MONTHLY SCHOOL REPORT


SEPTEMBER-2022
1. INTRODUCTION
Army Public School, Pune provides a broad and balanced curriculum, relevant to the needs
of our children and the ever-changing world, helping them develop into valued members of
our local community and of the global community and beyond.

i. WELCOME AND FAREWELL OF THE CHAIRMAN

On 2nd September, we welcomed our new chairman Brig Sunil D Fadatare, DCSO HQSC
and also bid farewell to the outgoing chairman of the school, Brig Amareesh Panwar,
DCSO, HQSC.

ii. VISIT OF THE CHAIRMAN

The chairman Brig Sunil D Fadatare, DCSO HQSC paid a visit to the school on 6th
September. This was his first visit to the school since taking charge. The Chairman along
with the Principal took a tour of the expansive campus of both the Senior and Junior wings.

iii. VISIT OF MS INDIA INTERNATIONAL
Miss International India 2023, Kashish Methwani, visited her Alma Mater on 12th September.
Kashish was welcomed with a triumphant march by the NCC cadets. It was an honour for
the fraternity to welcome Kashish who, with her skills and diligence has set an example and
outlined a road map to success for all aspiring to-be achievers. Kashish addressed the
students and kept the audience captivated with her impressive demeanor.

2.SCHOOL ACHIEVERS
i.NATIONAL OPEN COMBAT JU-JUTSUB CHAMPIONSHIP2022
Our young sports woman Sunakshi Bordoloi of class V-I participated in the First „National
Open Combat Jujutsu Championship 2022‟ in the Gandharv Lawns, MangdeWadi, Katraj
road, Pune on 17th and 18th September in the junior category (36 kg to 40 kg) and clinched
a gold medal for herself making all of us proud of her achievement.

ii. INTER COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT


The basketball team Under 19 participated in the 9 th State Level Inter College Basketball
Tournament from 27th-30th of August on the occasion of National Sports Day. The final
match was between Army Public School, Pune and MIT World Peace University, Pune. The
APS team won with a score 46 against 41. Aryan Thorat of class XII-C was awarded Best
Player. The team was felicitated with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

iii. MONEY 101 COMPETITION

Money 101 National Financial Literacy Competition sponsored by FamPay was held on 3rd
and 10th September. Around 2800 students from more than 125 schools across India
participated in the competition. Prachi Katewa of class IX-A secured the fourth rank in the
competition. The competition enabled the students to learn to thrive in the 21st century and
helped them develop soft skills, work skills and digital skills.

3. SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
i.SPECIAL ASSEMBLY TEACHER’S DAY
Students of class IVE enthusiastically presented a special Assembly on 5th September to
celebrate, ‟Teacher‟s Day‟. The assembly commenced by paying floral tribute to mark the
Birth Day of the great teacher and former President of our country of Dr. Sarvapalli
Radhakrishnan. An exciting and heart-warming skit was performed by the students as they
showcased, how a teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instill love for learning
amongst students. The children showed their affection and respect towards their teachers
by expressing their feelings through poems, dances and songs.

ii.SPECIAL ASSEMBLY HINDI DIWAS
A special Assembly on Hindi Diwas was conducted on 14th September to celebrate the
National Language day of our country. Our Principal Mrs Anita Sharma graced the
assembly and interacted with the students. She addressed the children to take pride and not
shy away from communicating in Hindi language. Students of class V enlightened everyone
on the importance of Hindi as a language through an insightful skit. They also participated in
a group song to emphasize our National language. Children also enjoyed a poem especially
created and recited by Ms Shweta Ahlawat (Hindi teacher), to create a sense of love and
pride for Hindi language in the minds of all.

iv.SAINIK SCHOOL
To facilitate learning in different subjects, classes were conducted twice a week for the
selected students of class V to help them qualify in the selection of Sainik School Entrance
Exam. The teachers tackled topics according to the latest syllabus to clear the doubts of the
students Emphasis was given on concept clearance and solving sample test papers.

v.REMEDIAL CLASSES
Remedial classes were conducted for the students of classes I-XII to help them with
learning difficulties and support them in developing better learning skills to improve their
performance.

vi.HOBBY CLASSES

Children of classes I-V enjoyed different activities conducted by the activity teachers which
gave them a scope to express themselves and hone their creativity as per their wish.

 ART AND CRAFT

Be it colouring with crayons, making miniature statues from clay or folding paper to create
fine origami, the art and craft activities enhanced the interest of the children and exploited
their artistic potential.

 MUSIC

Music hobby classes helped children to express themselves in a unique way, motivating
their learning skills by exposing them to learn the sounds and meanings of words in different
songs and play the accompanying instruments.

 GAMES

Children engaged themselves in physical activities to boost their body strength, fitness and
coordination and to stay focused to perform well in different sporting activities.

 DANCE

Through the dance hobby class children were trained to develop their strength and stamina
to execute movements with ease and agility as they learnt different dance moves.

vii. TEACHER’S DAY
To commemorate the birth anniversary of the second President of India Dr. Sarvepalli
Radhakrishnan, 5th September every year is celebrated as Teacher‟s Day. The Teacher‟s
Day was organized with incredible gusto and zeal by our students. The students planned
many spectacles for the day and showcased many scintillating dance performances, on
some peppy numbers which highlighted the heart-warming relationship between a teacher
and a student. The school was called off on a half day, following which the staff was taken
for sumptuous lunch at the Central Royal Orchids. The hotel vibrated with enthusiasm of the
teachers. The thrilling games made the day a memorable one.

viii. HEARTFULNESS INSPIRE TEACHER’S PROGRAMME


A 3-day experiential workshop for teachers was held from 7th-9th September. The
workshop included
 Heartfulness practices and techniques essential for self-management
 Heartfulness heart-centered learning pedagogy
 Inquiry-based learning and
 Essential life skills
The workshop enabled the teachers to create joyful activity-based learning in classrooms. It
was attended by Ms Harsha, Ms Ashwini Mitkari and Ms Sushma Roy.

ix. SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON ‘SAY NO TO PLASTIC’
The rising usage of plastic and the hazards by it is rising at an alarming rate. To sensitize
our students from an early age and generate awareness, a special assembly was
conducted to convey the harmful effects of plastic usage.

x. SWACHHATA PAKHWADA
Swachh Vidyalaya is the national campaign driving „Clean India: Clean Schools‟. A key
feature of the campaign is to ensure that every school in India has a set of functioning and
well-maintained water, sanitation and hygiene facilities. Government of India has launched a
nationwide cleanliness drive in the form of Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st September to 15th
September. Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan focus is on cleanliness and hygiene and to
produce a healthy school environment. To develop or support appropriate health and
hygiene practices, several activities were conducted to promote awareness amongst the
students.

SWACHHATA PLEDGE
Recognizing the vital role of the schools in spreading the awareness about Swachhata
Mission and its implementation across the country, our schools observed CLEANLINESS
DRIVE FOR SWACCH BHARAT from 1st to 15th September. A Swachhata Pledge was
taken up by the staff and students to create a clean India.

xi.POSTER MAKING
Poster making competition was held on the theme “Swachh Bharat”. Students participated
in the Poster Making Competition giving their innovative ideas and how to make our country
clean and beautiful.

xii.PUNEET SAGAR ABHIYAN

Our NCC cadets of under 2 Mah Bn NCC, Pune went to Omkareshwar Ghat on 17th
September for Puneet Sagar Abhiyan as per instuctions of DG NCC. They cleaned nearby
area of Vruddheshwar Siddheshwar Ghat and collected single used plastics and handed
over to the team members of Puneri Nayak, APCC, Pune.

xiii. HALF YEARLY EXAMINATION

Exams help the students in self-assessment, ignite their extraordinary thinking and help
them overcome failures. Offline Periodic Test-II were conducted for the students of classes
I-XII from 22nd-29th September. The timings of the exams were from 7:40 am – 11:10am.

xiv. FACULTY DEVELOPMENT & RESEARCH CENTRE


Army Public School, Pune helps to create an effective learning environment for its teachers
in order to improve teaching-learning methodology. The Faculty Development & Research
Centre (FDRC) conducted various workshops from 29th August-23rd September. The details
of the workshops are as follows:

xv. AWAKENED CITIZENS PROGRAM
The Awakened Citizen program is being conducted in Army Public School, Pune with a
vision of grooming the future citizens of India by awakening their infinite potential. The
sessions are very interactive and informative. Modules are explained through explorations,
real life examples and motivational videos.

xvi. SPORTS

Sports are a major part of the school curriculum. Students stay emotionally and physically
healthy and they can easily focus on their studies.

i. BASKETBALL
Interhouse basketball matches were held for classes IX-XII in the month of September.

ii. DODGEBALL
Interhouse dodgeball matches were held for class VI in the month of September.

4. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Co-curricular activities facilitate the development of various domains of mind and personality
such as intellectual development, emotional development, social development, moral
development and aesthetic development.
i. COMIC STRIP MAKING COMPETITION

Comic strips and cartoons are always an attraction for children. Students of class IV took
part in „Comic Strip Making‟ competition on 27th August on the topic Azadi ka Amrut
Mahotsav – „A Fond Memory‟, children showcased the wonderful events as it stands out in
the history of our Nation in the past 75 years through cartoons and dialogues as they
nurtured their talent and creativity.

ii.SOLO SINGING COMPETITION

To bring out the singing talent of the students an inter house „Solo Singing Competition‟ was
organized for the students of class IV on 30th August. Each student showed their mastery
over voice modulation, pitch, rhythm and tone. The mellifluous songs impressed the parent
judges as the participants sang the songs with confidence and passion.

iii. I WRITE NEATLY

Students of class I took part in an inter-house hand writing competition, „I WRITE NEATLY‟
on 1st September. The aim of this competition was to create awareness about the
importance of neat, legible handwriting. The tiny tots meticulously wrote a page in the best
of their handwriting exhibiting a soothing flow and rhythm.

iv.INTER HOUSE DODGE BALL FINALS

An Inter House Dodge Ball Competition was held for the Students of class II on 8th
September. The participants showed great enthusiasm, energy and enjoyment in throwing
the ball and hitting their opponents, while avoiding being hit themselves. The players left no
stone unturned to score for their individual teams and win a point for their house. They
displayed great skills in throwing, catching, dodging and blocking.

v.RANGOLI MAKING WITH LEAVES

Children of class III participated in the Rangoli with leaves competition on 7 th September.
They showed great aesthetic sense and coordination skills to organize leaves in different
shapes and patterns and making bright and colourful designs of Rangoli.

vi.RANGOLI MAKING WITH WASTE MATERIAL

The students of class IV participated in the Rangoli making competition on the theme
„Biodiversity„with reusable things to create a beautiful craft. They exhibited their observation
and thinking skills by making thought provoking designs of rangoli patterns displaying their
inner artistry.

vii.INTER HOUSE HINDI GROUP RECITATION COMPETITION

An Inter House Hindi Group Recitation Competition was held for the tiny tots of class I on
16th September. It gave them an exposure to share their feelings through expressions and
gestures in front of a large audience with confidence. Props used by them made all the
characters of poem come alive and were greatly appreciated by the parent judges.

viii.INTER HOUSE HINDI STORY TELLING COMPETITION

An Inter House „Story Telling Competition‟ for the students of class III was conducted on
15th September to encourage the speaking skills of the students. Each participant narrated a
beautiful story with zeal and impressed the audience with their confidence. Enacting various
characters of the stories helped them to imprint their young minds with valuable morals and
ignited their creative skills.

ix.INTER HOUSE DODGE BALL FINALS

An inter house Dodge Ball competition for class III students was organized on 21st
September. The competition was held in open air in the basketball court, giving a fair
chance to the students to exhibit their control over the ball. The children played attentively
and implemented different strategies to hit the ball at the opponent and score points for their
team. It was good to see a spontaneous exhibition of technical skill from our student stars.

x.INTER HOUSE KABADDI FINAL

The finals of the Inter-House Kabaddi competition of classes IV-V was organized on 19th
September for girls and on 20th September for boys. The training and awareness generated
by the PT teachers transpired into the participants of all the four houses. Team members
from both Bhagat and Manekshaw houses showed some exhilarating skills and
temperament to make the finals very entertaining. Finally, Bhagat house overpowered
Manekshaw house and were declared the winners.

Girls Kabaddi Final match was played between Thimmaya and Bhagat house. It was also
very high on skill and strategy. The indoor facility of playing on rubber mats was used due to
bad weather. Both the teams were determined to help their house score points. Finally
Thimmaya house girls prevailed over Bhagat house and won the match. The enthusiasm
and participation in a traditional sport like kabaddi amongst the students was a great
achievement of the Interhouse Kabaddi Competition.

xi. STORY TELLING COMPETITION

Story-telling has been an integral part of our childhood, since time immemorial. To keep the
tradition going, a Story Telling Competition was held on 26th August for students of class VI.
The young, enthusiastic storytellers armed with their props came forth with wonderful
stories.

xii. PAPER QUILLING COMPETITION

Paper Quilling Competition was organized for students of class VI on 2nd September.
Students participated with enthusiasm and made greeting cards for their teachers on the
occasion of Teacher‟s Day.

xiii. FANCY DRESS COMPETITION

A Fancy Dress Competition was organized for class VI on 16th September. The theme of the
competition was Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. Students enjoyed the competition as they got an
opportunity to dress up as their favourite freedom fighters.

xiv. HINDI VIGYAPAN

A Hindi Vigyapan Competition was held for the students of class VII on 26th August for the
students of class VII. The competition was the reflection of the Hindi learning outcomes and
an excellent integration of language, drama, music and visual art.

xv. COFFEE PAINTING COMPETITION


A Coffee Painting Competition was conducted for students of class VII on 8th September.
The competition showcased the creativity and talent of emerging artists. The theme of the
competition was Landscape or Cityscape.

xvi. SANSKRIT SHLOK RECITATION

Shloka chanting has been a part of our tradition since times immemorial. „Sanskrit Shloka
Competition‟ was conducted for class VII on 15th September. Students recited Sanskrit
shlokas confidently with music spreading purity and serenity to the environment.

xvii. PICTORIAL STORY TELLING COMPETITION

Stories enhance our creativity and are effective in instilling values. Students of class VIII
participated in Pictorial Story Telling Competition on 14th September with full zeal and
enthusiasm.

xviii. NUKKAD NATAK

The idea of a street play is to propagate social and political messages in a humorous and
sarcastic way and create awareness among the masses. Students of classes VIII and IX
came together for the Nukkad Natak on 7th September and 30th August respectively.
Students highlighted before the audiences the importance of their respective topics and
received a huge round of applause from the crowd for their performance.

xix. WESTERN GROUP SINGING

In the words of Nancy Pearcy, “Competition is always a good thing. It forces us to do our
best.” A „Western Group Singing Competition‟ was held on 13th September for class IX. The
students sang with enthusiasm and zeal.

xx. SPELL BEE COMPETITION

A Spell Bee Competition, was organized for students of class IX on 6th September in which
contestants were asked to spell a broad selection of words, with a varying degree of
difficulty. The competition gave students a platform to learn spellings in different ways,
enrich their vocabulary and develop the use of correct English.

xxi. FOLK DANCE COMPETITION
Dance competitions are a great way to build an emotional resilience in a child. It increases
self-confidence and self-esteem in children. A Folk Dance Competition was organized for
students of class IX on 13th September. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their
energetic performance.

xxii. ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION


Keeping in mind the enhancement of critical thinking, reasoning abilities and promotion of
communication skills, an English Debate Competition was organized for students of class XI
on 6th September.

xxiii. CLAY JEWELERY MAKING COMPETITION


In order to make our students excel in this aesthetic field of art, a Clay Jewelry Making
Competition was organized for the students of class XI on 12th September. The students
enjoyed the day to the hilt. They made ornaments like neck pieces, earrings using clay.
