Shopping in my hometown

I live in a city. I’m lucky because we have so many different places 1 where we can buy clothes and

food. We have numerous centers around the city. The biggest has over five hundred

shops and restaurants. They sell absolutely everything. If you shopping there, you

will definitely buy something. It doesn’t matter if you can’t much. There are always

sales or goods discount. I think there is a bargain for everyone.

can recall. Tell them to compare it with their partners and discuss which ones they shop in or use. Monitor the
task.

2. Vocabulary

Students label the pictures. They may be familiar with some words from previous lessons. Elicit one extra word:
convenience store. Check they understand the difference between library / book store, convenience store / grocery
store and stationary store /newsstand.

tablets in a glass display case. There are some on discount. He looks interested. A boy is checking the label of
some paints.
Picture B: Woman is holding a pack of coloring pencils and looks sad. The boy is carrying 5 note books easily and
is happy. A girl is returning a textbook for cash. A man is looking at tablets in a glass display case. There are no
sale offers and he looks disappointed. A boy is checking the label of a pack of felt tips.

5 minutes for preparation, 5 minutes for dialogue presentation.
This is an extended speaking opportunity for students. First, they follow the steps and write their dialogue to
recycle vocabulary and polite language from the lesson. When practicing, monitor their accuracy and pronunciation.
Finally, they present their dialogue in groups of four.
Extension: Students create new situations, and the class has to identify the place and request.
