Morning Session
• Introduction to Pico-Satellites:
We started by learning about pico-satellites, small satellites weighing less than
1kg, designed for gathering weather data and other scientific measurements.

• Distributing Components:
The teacher handed out kits containing various components, including:
• Wires
• Arduino Uno boards
• Breadboards
• Knob-like test switches
• LEDs
• Various circuit elements (positive/negative wires)

Hands-on Activities performed
Activities Description
Connecting Arduino Uno: We connected the Arduino Uno to our laptops using a USB cable.

Writing & Uploading We wrote a basic code to blink an LED and uploaded it to the Arduino Uno
Code: to test the functionality.
Modifying Code: We modified the blink speed of the LED to explore how different coding
changes affect the circuit.
Integrating Breadboard: The breadboard was introduced, and we used it to add additional
components like the test switch and LEDs.
Building Circuits: We connected the LEDs to the breadboard and wired them to the Arduino
Uno, adjusting the code to control the blink behavior of the LEDs.

Afternoon Session
➢ We explored the components of the Arduino Uno board and understood its functionality in
controlling electronic circuits.

➢ We watched videos showing the process of launching and landing pico-satellites, gaining insight
into the operational aspects of these miniaturized space systems.

➢ We had a group discussion on potential landing areas for pico-satellites after their launch,
considering factors such as safety and precision

➢ We took the laptop and the components to the school ground and tested the sensors to check
their performance.

➢ To document our work, we filmed videos showcasing the launch preparations for the pico-
satellite project.

Glossary
Arduino Uno : An open-source microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P
microcontroller, used for building electronics and programming
small projects. It was introduced in 2010 and is popular for
prototyping.
Breadboard : A tool for prototyping electronic circuits. It allows components to be
connected without soldering, making it easier to build and test
circuits.
LED (Light Emitting : A semiconductor device that emits light when an electrical current
Diode) passes through it. It’s widely used for various display and indicator
purposes in electronics.
Pico-Satellite: : A miniature satellite weighing under 1 kg, used for gathering
scientific data, often for monitoring weather conditions or
performing other small-scale experiments in space.

I thank the school for providing this opportunity to participate in the
workshop. This workshop was a mix of theoretical learning and practical
activities that helped us understand the fundamentals of pico-satellites,
Arduino-based electronics, and sensor integration, while also giving us
hands-on experience with building circuits and programming.

Thank you
