PURPOSE

Known as Act 172 Serves as a comprehensive legislative Ensuring sustainable urban planning and
framework aimed at regulating land use environmental protection while facilitating
and development in Malaysia orderly growth and development across
various regions.
OBJECTIVES

 Sustainable Development Promotion: The Act aims to


promote sustainable development by balancing economic
growth with environmental protection, ensuring that land
use meets the needs of current and future generations.

 Orderly Urban Planning: It seeks to facilitate orderly


urban planning and development, providing a structured
approach to land use that minimizes conflicts and
enhances community well-being.

 Public Participation Encouragement: The Act encourages


public participation in the planning process, allowing
stakeholders to contribute to decision-making and
fostering transparency in urban development initiatives.
