Experiment No.1: Solar Cell- V-I and Intensity Characteristics

1. Describe the basic working principle of a solar cell.

2. Define open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current (Isc), fill factor (FF), and maximum

power point (Pmax).

3. How does light intensity affect the performance of a solar cell.

Experiment No.2: Characteristics of LED

1. Explain the working principle of an LED.

2. What is the V-I characteristic of an LED, and why is it important to study it?

3.Write equation for calculating wavelength of light emitted.

Experiment No.3: Laser – Determination of wavelength using diffraction grating

1.What is the basics principle of laser.

2.Define diffraction.

3.Write expression for grating equation, hence write equation for wavelength.

Experiment No.4: Numerical aperture of optical fiber

1. What is the basics principle of optic fiber.

2.Write expression for Numerical aperture.

3. An optical fiber has a core with a refractive index n1=1.48 and a cladding with a refractive index
n2=1.46. Calculate the numerical aperture (NA) of the fiber and the maximum angle of acceptance θ for
light entering the fiber in air (where the refractive index of air, is approximately 1.0).

Experiment No.9: Half Wave rectifier

1.Define Rectification

2.Explain rectification property of Diode.

3.Define ripple factor.

Experiment No.10: Dielectric Constant

1.Define Dielectric constant and write its expression

2.Write any four applications of Dielectric materials.

3.Explain the effect of introducing dielectric material in to the gap between the plates of parallel

Plate capacitor.
