Notes:

1. These field replaceable unit (FRU) printers are returnable/repairable. They

are complete printers except for power supplies.

2. If the defective printer has a power supply attached to the base, this needs to
be transferred to the printer FRU. Do NOT ship the power supply back to
Datacard.

3. If the original printer has an option other than what is listed above, the
option needs to be transferred to the printer FRU. For example, if the original
printer has a 200-card input hopper, transfer the input hopper to the printer
FRU you receive.

4. The defective printer being returned should be the same configuration as the
configuration you received (except for the magnetic stripe option). For
example, if you removed the 100-card input hopper from the printer FRU,
install it on the defective printer before shipping.

5. All FRU printers have the magnetic stripe option installed. This option does
not need to be removed.

6. You may need to configure a replacement printer with offsets you selected
from the LCD panel for the original printer. See the SP55 Service Manual for
information. See chapter 2, Printer Components, LCD Menu Diagram, for an
outline of options. See chapter 6, Main Control Board, for instructions on
using the LCD display to record settings and restore them.

7. Return the defective printer in the box in which the FRU printer was shipped.

The SP55 Plus printers have serial numbers of 90000 and above; the SP55 RoHS-
compatible printers have serial numbers between 70000 and 89999; and the SP55
pre-RoHS and SP60 printers have serial numbers of 69999 or below.

1 Datacard strongly recommends replacing the entire Rocker Assembly (PN 562738-998) if the encoder
needs to be replaced. Rocker assemblies are tested at the factory for ISO 7811/JIS x6302 compliance for
jitter, but individual encoders are not tested.
