SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
1. Describe the scope of the tourism industry.
2. Differentiate the forms of tourism services.
3. Determine the types of tourists.

A. EXPLORE:
Guide Question:
1. Have you experienced traveling away from your residence for recreation and
leisure?
2. What tourism activities have you enjoyed the in the places you have visited?
B. FIRM – UP:
Activity No. 1: What’s on your mind?
Instructions: Answer this question.
1. How does tourism benefit local communities, and what are some ways it helps
people learn about different cultures?
Activity No. 2:
Instruction: Determine what type of tourist is being asked. Write T for Tourists
and write E if its Excursionists.
1. This person travels to a foreign country for a week-long vacation, staying
in a hotel and exploring various attractions.
2. These individuals visit a theme park for a day, enjoying rides and
entertainment before returning home the same evening.
3. This traveler goes on a guided tour for two weeks, experiencing the culture
and sights of multiple cities.
4. These guests spend the day at a local beach, enjoying the sun and
swimming, then head back home after dinner.
5. This family books a cruise that lasts ten days, visiting several islands and
participating in onboard activities.
6. These friends take a short trip to a nearby mountain for a day hike and
picnic, returning home in the evening.
7. This individual travels to attend a week-long conference, participating in
networking events and local excursions.
8. These students go on a field trip to a science museum, spending the day
learning and then returning to school.
9. This couple plans a month-long backpacking trip across Europe, staying in
various hostels and experiencing local cultures.

Activity No. 1: Tourist Profile Match-Up" Activity
Activity Steps:
1. Create Tourist Profiles
Prepare cards with short descriptions of different "tourist profiles." For example:
Adventure Tourist: "Loves hiking, rock climbing, and exploring wild landscapes."
Cultural Tourist: "Enjoys museums, historical sites, and learning about different
cultures."
Leisure Tourist: "Prefers relaxing by the beach, spa treatments, and scenic views."
Eco-Tourist: "Wants to protect nature, enjoys visiting parks, and helps local
communities."
Business Tourist: "Travels for work, attends meetings, but might explore the city after."
2. Matching Activity
Divide students into pairs or small groups. Give each group a few tourist profile cards
and ask them to discuss and match each profile to the correct type of tourist.
3. Group Sharing
Have each group present their matches to the class, explaining why they paired each
profile with a specific type of tourist.
D.EVALUATION:
TOURISM SERVICES ROLE PLAY
Transfer Goal: Help students understand different forms of tourism services by actively
participating and presenting different roles within the tourism industry.
Performance Task: Role Playing
Instructions: Divide students into small groups and assign each group a type of
tourism service (e.g., hotel staff, tour guides, travel agents, restaurant servers, and bus
or flight attendants). Provide each group with a short description of their role.
E. ATTITUDES:
Through this activity, students will better understand the characteristics and
motivations of different types of tourists, helping them grasp the diversity within
the tourism industry.
