Spark Plugs - Check/Renew

WARNING

Make sure the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported.


A correctly supported motorcycle will help prevent it from falling.
An unstable motorcycle may fall, causing injury to the operator or damage to the
motorcycle.

Perform the following operations:


Fuel Tank - Removal
1. Detach the electrical connections from the ignition coils.
2. Remove the ignition coils from the cylinder head.
3. Use a suitable tool to remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head.
4. Check the condition of the spark plug cap seal for wear and/or damage. Replace as
necessary.
5. Check for signs of abnormal discolouration or deposits (see Spark Plugs - Inspection).
6. Check and, if necessary, adjust the spark plug gap to 0.7 mm.
7. Refit the spark plugs or, if required, fit new spark plugs and tighten to 12 Nm.
8. Inspect the seals for the ignition coils for damage and replace if necessary.
9. Refit the ignition coils and reconnect the electrical connections to the ignition coils .
