Choose a drug of particular interest to you that you would like to research. The drug may be
either an OTC or prescribed medication. It can be of any classification and administered by any
route. Ensure that you have sufficient resources (3 sources required) to complete your
assignment.

In your assignment, present the following information in your own words:


1. Name and classification of the drug. (2)
Answer: The name of drug is Acetaminophen. Class of this drug is known as analgesics and
antipyretics. These classes fall into the category of pain relievers and fever reducers
respectively.
2. What are 3 common indications for this drug? (3)
Answer: This medication can be used if a person has following indications such as:
• Headaches,
• Sore Throats,
• Fever, and
• Menstrual periods.
3. How often is it taken? (1)
Answer: For 12 years or older, 1-2 tablets is used after every four hours or as prescribed by
the
doctor.
4. By which route(s) is it taken? (1)
Answer: This medication is taken orally.
5. Are there any special instructions for administration? (2)
Answer: There are several special instructions for taking this medication, some of them are
listed
below:
• If you are allergic to this medication, please let your doctor or pharmacist know about it.
• If you are taking anticoagulants, then please inform your doctor or pharmacist.
• If you developed any rash, or you are pregnant/drink more alcoholic beverages, then
inform you doctor about it.
6. Are there possible side effects? (
Answer: This drug can cause several side effects.
• Rash
• Hives
• Itching
• Hoarseness
• Swelling of the face, throat, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankle or lower, legs
• Hoarseness
• Difficulty breathing and swallowing.
7. Are there any contraindications? (2)
Answer: Contraindications for using this drug includes hypersensitivity, server hepatic
impairment or server active hepatic disease

Answer: The most interesting fact that I learned about this medication is that there is a
debate going on this medication by the experts whether hepatic impairment is truly a
limiting factor or no
