Diary Entries
Task 1:
Write a continuation of the text, imagining that you are the
explorer. Before you start writing, plan by asking questions such
as:
What’s going to happen in your diary extract?
How will you feel?
What will you do?
Once you have a plan for the content, plan use of connectives
and sentence openings. To plan this, think about:
How will you introduce this information?
How will you move the topic on?
What sentence openings and linking words will you use?

Dear Diary,
I am very tired today and a bit guilty as well. I didn’t like the
fact that just because of me, everyone’s pace was slowing
down. Even the weather wanted to go harsh on us. We are only
10 or 12 miles away from the depot but it seems a long way. I
am stressed out today for some or the other reason and I
definitely do not feel good…I can’t even think in the right
direction and it seems like my brain is too clouded…It is hard to
cope in this extreme climate and my fingers are frostbitten. I
know just crying about my worries won’t do any good but I just
don’t know what to do…I almost feel helpless. The only
shimmer of hope I see is that tomorrow my friends will be able
to move on towards their mission, even though it may just be
without me…

Task 2:
Write a diary entry on
Your feelings about a trip you went on before COVID 19 and
how you feel about it now that you are unable to go anywhere.

Dear Diary,
Today I feel nostalgic. I don’t know why but today I dreamt of
my freedom and all that I was able to do earlier without
restrictions. It’s like we all are trapped in a cage now and want
to go out in the open. This Covid-19 pandemic has brought
about so much loneliness and isolation in all our lives. I feel
that’s it’s been ages since I visited my grandparents and
relatives back home. I vividly recall the times when we could
visit India frequently, today it seems like we have not seen our
ancestral home in ages. I remember the time when my family
and I frequented the bustling markets of Delhi, the smell of
delicious street food filling my senses and the colorful sights
everywhere. Dear Diary, how I wish we can travel again and go
back to our normal lives as before….
