Slump test

Procedures
1. Clean the internal surface of the mould and apply oil
2. Place the mould on a horizontal base plate
3. Fill the mould with concrete mix in 3 layers
4. Tamp each layer 25 strokes in a uniform manner over the cross section of the mould
5. Remove the excess concrete and level the surface
6. Clean away the mortar or water leaked out between the mould and the base plate
7. Raise the mould vertically and slowly in vertical direction
8. Measure the slump as the difference between the height of the mould and the highest
point of concrete

Compacting Factor Test

Procedures:
1. Place the concrete mix in the upper hopper
2. Open the trap-door of the upper hopper so that the concrete falls into the lower hopper
3. Open the trap-door of the lower hopper so that the concrete falls into the cylinder
4. Remove the excess concrete and level the surface
5. Measure the weight of concrete in the cylinder and this weight will be known as the
weight of partially compacted concrete
6. Refill the cylinder with concrete in 6 layers
7. Tamp each layer 30 strokes in a uniform manner with the cross section of the cylinder
8. Measure the weight of concrete in the cylinder and this weight will be known as the
weight of fully compacted concrete.
9. The compacting factor = weight of partially compacted concrete / weight of fully
compacted concrete
Flow Table Test
Procedures
1. Wet and clean the table top and the mould from gritty materials.
2. Put the mould at the center of the table.
3. Fill the mould in two-layer, each one half the volume of the mould.
4. Tamp each layer 10 times with a tamping rod.
5. Using the trowel, strike off the excess concrete after tamping the top layer.
6. Clean the area of the table outside the mould.
7. Immediately remove the mould with a steady upward pull.
8. Raise and drop the table by 12.5 mm, 15 times in 15 seconds.
9. Calculate the mean value of the diameter of the concrete spread

Ve Be Test
Procedures
1. Dampen the cone mould and place it in the container
2. Fill the cone in 3 layers by using the same procedure of slump test
3. Allow clear disc to slide down into the container to rest on the concrete
4. Start the vibration of the table and the timer simultaneously
5. Stop the timer when the lower surface of the disc is fully in contact with cement grout
6. Record the time taken to the nearest second
