1 Tips and outlines for writing reports
Use the cover page shown above.
Proofread and edit your report.
The report should consist of the following sections: (Use your own words, don’t copy the handout)
1. Table of contents
2. Table of figures
3. Introduction / Theory of the experiment from literature
The introduction section of your paper is more detailed. It states why you conducted your study, what you wanted to accomplish, and what is your hypothesis. 4. Experimental setup/ Procedures (About the equipment being used)
5. Data & Results (Report the input & output variables observed & perform calculations)
6. Discussion , the answer to the question “what do my results mean?” The discussion section of the manuscript should come after the methods and results section and before the conclusion 7. Sources of errors (discuss possible causes of errors)
8. Conclusion, conclusion as a summary of everything that you have said thus far. In the conclusion section, you remind the reader of what they have just read.

2- Table of Figures: With pages number.
List of Symbols: It should include all symbols (α, µ, ϴ etc.)
3- Introduction/ Theory:
A maximum of 2 - 3 pages describing the purpose of the report, relating the topic to wider field and explaining the layout /arrangement of the report. Discuss the previous literature as theory in this section (Time New Roman - 12 – justify - Font)
4- Experimental Setup & Procedure:
Introduce the tools used during the lab.
Discuss and describe in steps the procedures that had been followed to extract the results from the experiment. (Time New Roman - 12 – justify - Font)
5- Data & Results:
Tables and graphs of final results required as well as samples of calculations performed during the experiment. (Time New Roman - 12 – justify - Font)
6- Discussion Discuss the results, with the aid of graphs whenever possible.
7- Sources of errors Explain the sources of errors in the obtained results and point their sources.
8- Conclusion:
End with a short paragraph stating the main outcomes of the experiment. (Time New Roman - 12 – justify - Font)
9- References:
List used references such as textbooks, periodicals or Internet Sites and Lab Handouts, use APA/ MLA style properly. (Time New Roman - 12 – justify – Font)
