Concept Notes:
  Simple sentences have one subject and one verb or predicate.
          Subject means the doer of the action.
          Predicate means the action in a sentence.
        Example:
             Simple sentence: The girl runs in the field.
             The       girl    runs      in the field.
                      subject predicate.

Directions: Listen to your parent as he/she reads the short story
            below.
                         FUNNY MACMAC

         Macmac is a black crow. She is a funny crow.
         Macmac likes to go to the well.
         She likes to run around the well.
         Ted says “Macmac, run around the well.”
         Ted yells, “ Macmac, don’t run around the
           well.”
         Macmac falls into the well! Oh, no!
         She can’t swim. What should she do? What should
           she do?
         Teddy gets a big net.
         He gets Macmac out of the well. That’s good.
         Macmac is wet but happy. Ted is happy too.

    sentences linked by a coordinating conjunction like and, but, or,
    yet, so, for, nor.
               Examples:
•           Sarah walked to class but Kevin ran.

                 The Thunderstorm
          The kids were outside playing catch.
    They heard a rumble in the sky. They didn’t
    want to stop playing but they knew it‘s not
    safe to be out in the storm. Also they got wet.
        The kids decided to go inside and they
   played board game. They loved listening to the
   thunder as they played their game.
        The kids went outside again after the
    storm had passed. They saw a rainbow.
