Introduction
Note: Daily Meeting & Prayers:
We will meet daily in the evening to pray from 18:00 - 19:00 hours in
the Compassion Main Hall, also listen to the daily Podcast as they
will be prepared to minister to you and strengthen you daily.
Fasting is a time of separation, a time of abstaining from food and some other
regular routine of life to specifically seek the face of God. It's a time of
recharging your spiritual life, refocusing, and waiting on God to hear Him
clearly, gain direction concerning certain areas of life and position yourself for
the increase of the power of the Holy Spirit.
Ezra 8:21: Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might
humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and
our little ones and all our possessions.
Acts 4:42: And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and
fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Great men in scripture fasted
Moses fasted for 40 days – Exodus 34:27-28: Then the Lord said to Moses,
“Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I have made a
covenant with you and with Israel.” So he was there with the Lord forty days
and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the
tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
Elijah fasted for 40 days – 1 Kings 19:8-9: So he arose, and ate and drank; and
he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as
Horeb, the mountain of God.And there he went into a cave, and spent the
night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He
said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Jesus fasted for 40 days –Luke 4:1:Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit,
returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing,
and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
Paul the apostle fasted often – 2 Corinthians 11:27 : in weariness and toil, in
sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and
 nakedness—
Different types of fasting
Below is a list of different types of fasting, the purposes they serve and
how to go about them:
                 COMPLETE FAST
Description: Abstain from all food and drink water only.
Duration: Typically 24 hours or more: Typically one meal a
day. Some may eat only dinner after praying and studying
the word. Some may eat breakfast only. So the idea is that
you eat one meal a day.
What to do: Spend time focusing on God, pray, study the
word, join the online prayer - 9am, 2pm or 9pm prayer.
Join the daily physical prayer meeting: 18:00 hours
                     daily.
                  PARTIAL FAST
Description: Abstaining from certain foods or meals.
                     Particularly the ones you enjoy
Duration: Also keep it focused for 24 hours.
Example: Daniel Fast, where one avoids meat, sweets, and
bread, consuming only fruits, vegetables, and water.
What to do: Keep your system very light and shut your
kitchen so that you can simplify diet and focus intensely on
                     prayer.
                  COMPLETE DRY FAST
Description: Abstaining from all food and water like Jesus
                     did - Luke 4:1-2
Duration: This must depend on the leading of the Spirit.
Ask the Lord to lead and guide. It's a supernatural fast that
must be guided by the Spirit.
What to do: Make out time to be alone with God, stay
focused, study the word and eat it voraciously.
Why are we fasting?
To establish divine mandate of Increase and to walk into the supernatural
open doors. "Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can
shut it."-Revelation 3:8
Because the Lord by His Spirit instructed His servants to declare ten days
of fasting and waiting on God in the midst of the year. While many things
will be revealed as we seek God, we have set a focus of thanking and praising
Him again for who He is and celebrating every attribute of God we can see in
scripture and recall to mind. We celebrate His attributes and honor him for His
greatness. And we also seek Him for the practical manifestation of His Glory
and presence based on the assignment He has given to us. We are not
focusing on ourselves at all. We are here to pray for His will.
     First phase - 3 days - 14th -17th
We just want to thank God and praise God for who He is. We
        celebrate the attributes of God.
Celebrate God for what He has done in the last 6 months.
Celebrate and Praise God for the great things that He would do in
        the next coming months.
     Second phase - 3 days : 18th -20th
Waiting on God for the unusual manifestation of the Power of the
        Spirit in our lives
Increase in stature - spiritual stature.
Increase in stature - for the church of God/Increase in favor before
        God and man
Receive strength to do more for God, strength to sacrifice, to live
        for Jesus.
Pray for the Gospel penetration in the Netherlands, also the
        government etc.
     Third phase - 4 days: 20th - 23rd.
Increase in Stature - Salvation, discipleship of souls.
Pray for our missions and ministries - Receive Grace for the
        assignment ahead.
Walking into open doors - Revelation 3:8
Tips for successful fasting
Stay connected with your trinity group leader.
Join your trinity prayer times, ask questions and
                           study together.
Just focus on God, stay quiet, follow the
direction that God has impressed on the heart of
the servants of God and leaders who have been
                           appointed to lead.
Trust God for supernatural strength as you wait
on God and seek His face.

wonderful things that God will do in your life. See you everyday at 18:00

meeting for those who want to break and have their meals.
In God's Faithful Service,
Temitope & Irene Agbana.
