1 Stub-ins which require reinforcing pads (RP) shall be reinforced in accordance with ASME B31.3 Para. 304.3.
2 Unreinforced/Reinforced stub-ins are first choice, exceptions shall be made by the pipe stress engineer to use other choices. Pipe Material & Rating
3 Reinforcement pad thickness shall be equal to that of header pipe. Carbon Steel (Galvanized), ASTM A53 Gr.B, CL150
4 Unless otherwise specified width of reinforcing pad shall be equal to 2 times the OD of branch pipe.
5 Detail of branch attachment welds shall be in accordance with ASME B31.3
6 Reinforcement pad shall have a 6 mm vent hole (This hole should be plugged with suitable material after the completion of Pr. Test of Reinforcement pad)
7 The weld bevel of O-lets shall be completely filled up to weld line on the O-lets. Smooth transition between the pipe and the O-lets is required. Notches below the weld line shall be avoided. Prior to welding, sufficient root gap shall be ensured.
8 Un-reinforced Stub-in branching weld details shall be in accordance with ASME B31.3, Sketch 1 of Fig. 328.5.4D (Set-on Branching).
9 Reinforced Stub-in branching weld details shall be in accordance with ASME B31.3, Sketch 3 of Fig. 328.5.4D (Set-on Branching).
