IS17077 Part1 2022

This standard prescribes requirements, methods of sampling and test for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) moulding and extrusion materials. It establishes a system for designating various ABS materials based on appropriate levels of properties like Vicat softening temperature, melt mass-flow rate, impact strength, tensile modulus and information about composition, intended application and additives.

FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards
on recommendation of the Plastics Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal
and Related Products Division Council.
Other part in this series is:
Part 2 Preparation of test specimens and determination of properties
Considerable assistance has been derived from ISO 19062-1, while preparing this standard.
In order to have uniform practice in the designation system of various resins, IS number is
designated as block 1.
The composition of the Committee responsible for the formulation of this standard is given
in Annex A.
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied
with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis shall
be rounded off in accordance with IS 2: 2022 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values
(second revision)’. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value
should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
