1.0 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS: Material Specification B-1. All the


requirements for the general specifications apply unless
superseded by the requirements listed within this specification.

2.0 SCOPE: This specification covers SAE 1045 steel.

3.0 APPROXIMATE EQUIVALENTS: The following steels, while not


necessarily exact equivalents of this base specification, can be
used as alternates provided they meet the remainder of this
specification in its entirety. Suppliers cannot substitute
cross-referenced steels without prior approval of the using plant
Quality Assurance function.
