PERIMETRAL LIGHTING REPORT

1. INTRODUCTION
This report is a initial design proposal for perimetral lighting.

Refers to the following documents:

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING. PLANT & PROFILE VIEWS.

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING. DETAILS.

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING. RECOMMENDED LIST OF MATERIALS.

The design of this initial proposal has been done by following guidelines documentation:

PROVISIONS ON WORK DESIGN ELECTRIC GRID PROJECTS OF VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY

110KV - 500KV

The guidelines documentation is from EVN Vietnam Electricity Corporation.

2. PERIMETRAL LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS

Refeing to chapters:

Gives guidelines for design criteria at chapter 9.3 “LIGHTING CALCULATION”.

Outdoor artificial lighting system for lighting equipment and devices

Let station operators manipulate close / switching devices. Artificial lighting

Outdoor side of distribution yard has illuminance requirement Eyc = 10 lux.

Use the headlights LED 220V has suitable power.

Guidelines for equipment selection criteria at chapter 9.3.2 “Data input”.

Layout plan with lights;

Criteria to determine the lamp height installation:

Light output of 1 set of lights

Number of lights

Illuminance required

0021346.SB62-IG145 REV.: 0 DATE: 16/09/19 PAG.: 4/12

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING REPORT

Guidelines for equipment calculations at chapter 9.3.3.2 “Method of calculating the outdoor lighting system
using part Lighting calculation software”.

Recommended factors and formula for luminaire number calculation:

E = 10 (lux): average illuminance.

S (m2): area to be illuminated.

k = 0.9: reserve factor.

Z = 1,4: calculation factor.

F (lm): luminous flux of lamp

ksd = 0.42: use factor

Guidelines for equipment calculations at chapter 9.3.3.3 “Selection results”.

The arrangement of lights shall be reasonable and achieves the illuminance requirements.

3. PERIMETRAL LIGHTING AREA

The design field for perimeral lighting, is presented at following image.

Figure 1 SE perimetral lighting area

Switchyard’s perimeter is the area marked with red hatching, it is the area formed between a secondary
perimeter drawn 4 meters around the exterior perimeter fence. With a total surface of 400 m², which shall be
provided of lighting, as required by guidelines for design criteria at chapter 9.3 “LIGHTING CALCULATION”.

The area takes in account the operators working area for closing/switching devices, it needs artificial lighting so
that the operations can be performed at any time/conditions.

Minimum illuminance requirement, at ground level is Em = 10 lux.

The guidelines recommend the use of headlights LED 220V has suitable power.

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING REPORT

3.1. DESIGN RECOMMENDATION FOR PERIMETRAL LIGHTING

This first design proposes the use of 14 luminaires, by its power and luminic characteristics all 14 installed at
4 meters above ground on the subsstation structures, but requires the installation of 2 lighting posts of a
minimum height of 4 meters.

Models of luminaires detailed also at the following image:

Figure 2 - Dialux - Luminaire recommended part list

0021346.SB62-IG145 REV.: 0 DATE: 16/09/19 PAG.: 7/12

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING REPORT

Luminaires rotation are set for giving the highest level of illuminance over the substation perimeter, inclination
has been set between 25º to 60º as shown in the luminaires (layout plan) image.

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING REPORT

3.2. SIMULATION & RESULTS

This first design proposes the use of 14 luminaires, by its power and luminic characteristics all 14 installed at
4 meters above ground on the susbstation structures, but requires the installation of 2 lighting posts of a
minimum height 4 meters.

The reason of using two different types of luminaires is that, they have different type of focus. So that we use
wide open focus luminaire 75 W e.u. model Philips MMP333 for perimetral lighting, and concentrated focus
luminaire model Philips BVP125 for those sections of the perimeter placed distant from any substation structure
or lighting post. See following image for more detail:

Figure 4 – Dialux – Simulation 3D perimetral lighting

This simulation uses 10 luminaires of 75 W e.u. model Philips MMP333 and 4 luminaires of 95 W e.u. model
Philips BVP125, giving a total power of 1130 W that will be used for future electric circuits design.

Following image deploy the illuminance results in a table. (Eav) average illuminance is over 100 lux and (Emin)
ploted at Value chart table (E) shows that illuminance is under 10 lux requirement at some point.

This is a false value, as you can see in the Value chart table (E) image, those values under 10 lux are placed at
the center of the substation area, outside the perimetral lighting zone. Refer to “Outdoor lighting report” for more
details.

0021346.SB62-IG145 REV.: 0 DATE: 16/09/19 PAG.: 9/12

PERIMETRAL LIGHTING REPORT

All values of illuminance in the perimetral lighting area are way over 10 lux accomplishing the minimum
requirements level.

Figure 5 - Dialux – Simulation results: Value chart (E)

Notice that highest values on illuminance are focused at the access points doors over the SE perimeter, as
detailed in the guidelines for design criteria at chapter 9.3 “LIGHTING CALCULATION” of EVN Vietnam
Electricity Corporation document.
