ORDINANCE NO. 001-2024
AN ACT DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS
BIBLE WEEK IN THE PROVINCE OF TARLAC AND ENCOURAGING ALL
THE FAITHFUL IN ALL OFFICES AND PLACES OF WORK, BOTH PUBLIC
AND PRIVATE, TO CONDUCT A DAILY PRAYER AND BIBLE READING

WHEREAS, the celebration of National Bible Week has been the subject
of three Presidential Proclamations: Proclamation No. 2242 (Pres. Ferdinand E.
Marcos), No. 44 (Pres. Corazon Aquino) and No. 1067 (Pres. Fidel V. Ramos);
WHEREAS, it is a policy of the State enunciated in the Constitution that the
government shall aid and encourage the development of the moral character and
personal discipline of the people and the Bible has been recognized by both
Christians and Non-Christians alike as an excellent source of principles for the
development of moral character and personal discipline:
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that national attention be focused on the
importance of reading and studying the Bible in molding the spiritual, moral and
social fiber of our citizenry:
WHEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Tarlac in
session duly assembled that:
Section 1. Title -- This Ordinance shall be known and cited as the
PROVINCIAL BIBLE WEEK ACT OF 2017.
Section 2. Purpose - The weeklong celebration aims to encourage every
faithful in the Province of Tarlac to read and live the Bible and consequently effect
moral transformation in the community and to imbibe a culture of prayer and to
sustain such practice by conducting a weekly prayer activity in all offices and places
of work.
Section 3. LGU and Inter Faith Groups Coordination - The Local
Government Units concerned through their respective Local Chief Executive will
coordinate with the Inter-Faith Groups and other interested parties in planning,
organizing and carrying out activities to be undertaken during the said weeklong
celebration.
Section 4. Activities - The Local Government Units and Inter-Faith
Groups may undertake activities that would enhanced the celebration of the
Provincial Bible Week.
Section 5. Implementing Rules And Regulations - The Provincial Governor is
hereby empowered to create a Committee/Technical Working Group to formulate
and issue the necessary Implementing Rules and Regulations, within a period of
sixty (60) days after the publication of this Ordinance, for its effective and efficient
implementation of any and all of its provisions.
Section 6. Separability Clause - If for any reason, any part or provisions
of this Ordinance shall be held to be unconstitutional or invalid, other part or
provisions hereof which are not affected shall continue to be in full force and effect.
Section 7. Repealing Clause -- All ordinances and administrative regulations
or parts thereof which are inconsistent with any provisions of this Ordinance are
hereby repealed or modified accordingly.
Section 8. Effectivity - This ordinance shall take effect in accordance with law.
