= 12 possible outcomes.
b) Tree Diagram
- is a technique used to determine all possible outcomes of a
probability experiment. It consists of line segments from a
starting point and from the outcome point.
- it uses branches to organize information from the start to end of
a single trial of an experiment.
= 12 possible outcomes
Example experiment 2:
Suppose a shopping mall has four doors. In how many ways can a
costumer enter and leave the shopping mall? List all the possible ways of
entering and leaving the mall by using systematic listing.
c) Systematic Listing provides a technique to organize the
information of a problem in a systematic way.
Entrance doors = {A, B, C, D}
Exit doors = {A, B, C, D}

= 16 possible outcomes
d) Fundamental Counting Principle states that we can find the total
number of ways that different events can occur by multiplying the
number of ways each event can happen.
Entrance doors X Exit doors = number of possible outcomes
4 X 4 = 16

Directions: Read and understand the problem.
Suppose that you and your friends will have a bicycle ride from
Capoocan to San Juanico Bridge which is considered the Philippines’
longest bridge that connects the provinces of Samar and Leyte. After
biking, you and your friends decided to buy an ice cream where you can
choose from the different flavors such as Mango, Chocolate and
Strawberry. And for the toppings, you can select from sprinkles, nips,
marshmallows or nuts. How many possible combinations of flavors and
toppings do you have? Use all the four counting techniques.
