A Compare and Contrast Essay

This document discusses the potential adverse health effects of bisphenol A (BPA) exposure based on epidemiological studies. It reports that several cross-sectional studies have found associations between higher urinary BPA levels and increased body mass/obesity in children, adolescents, and adults. Animal experiments also suggest that BPA exposure may increase risk of diabetes by interfering with pancreatic beta cell function and insulin secretion. The evidence indicates BPA is correlated with obesity and may contribute to diabetes development, though the studies do not prove causation.

A Compare And Contrast Essay

Crafting a compare and contrast essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a careful balance
between analysis, organization, and creativity. The difficulty arises from the need to delve into two
or more subjects, identify their similarities and differences, and present them coherently to engage
the reader.

Firstly, selecting suitable subjects for comparison demands thoughtful consideration. Finding two
topics that are not only relevant but also offer sufficient material for comparison can be a daunting
task. Once chosen, the writer must conduct thorough research to gather substantial information on
each subject.

The challenge escalates when attempting to structure the essay effectively. Organizing the content in
a logical manner that seamlessly transitions between the compared elements demands strategic
planning. Without a well-thought-out structure, the essay risks becoming disjointed, making it
difficult for the reader to follow the analysis.

Additionally, striking a balance between comparing and contrasting is crucial. Overemphasizing one
aspect at the expense of the other can skew the essay's purpose. Achieving parity in coverage while
maintaining a nuanced perspective requires finesse in writing.

Furthermore, crafting a compelling thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the essay and
guides the reader through the comparison process is another hurdle. A vague or weak thesis can
undermine the entire essay, leaving the reader confused or disinterested.

Revision is also a crucial phase in essay writing, and it adds another layer of complexity. Revisiting
and refining the content to ensure clarity, coherence, and relevance requires a discerning eye and a
willingness to make necessary revisions.

In conclusion, composing a compare and contrast essay demands a multifaceted approach. From the
careful selection of subjects to the intricate balancing act of analysis and presentation, the process is
undoubtedly challenging. However, with diligence, creativity, and attention to detail, a well-crafted
compare and contrast essay can emerge.

A Discussion Of Campaign Finance Regulation
In his discussion of campaign finance regulation, Christiano argues that with cases of
gatekeeper mechanism and opinion formation mechanism, campaign expenditures should
be regulated to prevent drowning out of the opinions of nonaffluents. He proposes that
certain regulations will actually help protect and promote freedom of expression, and
suggests to limit expenditures and distribute vouchers during campaign periods. Using a
prima facie equation, I will argue against the claim that Christiano s restrictions interfere
unduly with freedom of expression and defend his proposal as a valid resolution to the
problem of drowning out.

The most obvious criticism of Christiano s proposal is that regardless of a regulation s
intent or effect, regulation of campaign expenditures is an infringement on freedom of
expression. Many consider one s allocation of one s own resources to be a mode of
expression, and the Supreme Court has generally upheld this view in Buckley vs.
Valeon and Citizens United vs. FEC. In this sense, limiting campaign expenditure is
specifically limiting those who are able and willing to provide private expenditures
from doing so. Such a limitation can been seen as a violation of freedom of expression,
and Christiano s proposal to limit certain expressions in order to promote freedom of
expression can seem absurd.

Christiano, however, argues that this temporary limitation is not an unduly interference
because the cost of campaign regulation on freedom of expression is surpassed by its
benefits for freedom of expression. He admits that the affluents will be restricted from
fully wielding their economic advantages, but he claims that this limitation will preserve
and promote diversity of opinions during the campaign period and also ensure long run
development of discussions. Because campaign regulations will prevent diversity of
ideas from being diluted by drowning out, political discussion will
Health Between Urinary Bpa Levels And Increased Body Mass
2.3Adverse effects
2.3.1 Obesity
Several studies indicate that there is an association between urinary BPA levels and
increased body mass in children and adolescents. In a cross sectional analysis , a
nationally representative subsample of 2838 participants aged from 6 to 19 year old
were randomly selected, and their urinary BPA concentration and body mass index (BMI)
were measured. They found that the urinary BPA concentration were significantly
associated with obesity in participants, while obesity was not associated with exposed to
other environmental phenols in other commonly used consumer products, such as soaps
and sunscreens (Trasande et al. 2012). Another cross sectional study conducted in China
was also with the aim to investigate the association between BPA exposure and BMI.
Multiple linear regression analyses showed that urine BPA concentrations were
significantly correlated with increasing BMI in school children (Wang et al. 2012a). In
addition, there is also epidemiological evidence that an increased urine BPA
concentration is associated with obesity in adults. Wang et al. (2012b) conducted
another cross sectional study based on a sample of 3390 Chinese adults with age 40
years or older. They found there is a positive correlation between urinary BPA
concentration and generalized obesity as well as abdominal obesity in adults.
