employees. For this the company went for a thorough planning. Within four months
the positive results of this major policy decision was recognizable. The employees
felt a lot of development in their skill of taking first step to manage things on their
own. Some major newspapers also covered this development. The production of
the company increased. The company’s top management could now focus on new
areas of innovation as the employees turned more reliable.
One day it so happened that the company’s manufacturing branch in south could
not fulfil even half of its production target and the operations manager was held
answerable for the assigned target. He was called in the office. When he was

27. Sita Furnishings are manufactures of different types of home decore items. The 4
company choose to diversify its operations to improve its growth potential and
increase market share. As the project was important, many alternatives were
generated for the purpose and were thoroughly discussed amongst the members of
the organisation. After evaluating the various alternatives, Tarun, the Managing
Director of the company decided that they should add ‘Office Furnishings’ as a new
line of business activity.
(a) Name the framework, which the diversified organisation should adopt to
enable it to cope with the emerging complexity. Give one reason in support
of your answer.
(b) Also, state any two limitations of this framework.
