I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 50- minute discussion, 80% of the learners are expected to
a) Cognitive: Rename decimal numbers to fractions and fractions whose
denominators are factors of 10 and 100 to decimals.
b) Psychomotor: Write a decimal number for the given fraction.
c) Affective: Relate decimal in everyday life.

III. INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURE:


A. Review:

USE OF GAME “HEPHEP or HOORAY”


Directions: Say HEPHEP if the given fractional part is correct and HOORAY if not.
B. Motivation
- Who among you loves to eat cake?
- What is your favorite color of a cake?
- What is your favorite design of a cake?
- What is your favorite flavor of a cake?
- What is the parts of the cake you love to eat?

Let the pupils explain why these are their favorites.


Explain the disadvantages of eating too much sweets. ESP/MAPEH (Health)

C. Presentation of the Lesson


Use of ICT
Present the word problem to the class.

Mrs. Rabia went to a nearby bakery. She bought a birthday cake with chocolate
flavor for her 9-year old daughter. When she reached home, she divided the cake
into 10 equal parts. If the children shared 0.8 part from the cake, what fractional
part of the cake was shared by the children?

- Who bought a birthday cake? ENGLISH


- How many slices of cake did she made?
- What trait did Mrs. Rabia show? ESP
Emphasize the situation that shows sharing of blessings to other people and being
accurate in doing anything.

D. Discussion of the Lesson


Ask the pupils to write in fraction form the parts of the cake the children shared.
• Using regions

• By writing in words then to symbol

• By writing in words then to symbol


0.8 is read and written as eight tenths
8/10 is read and written as eight tenths
0.8 = 8/10
E. Application:
Think-pair-share
Using the white board, let the pupils work in pair on renaming decimal numbers
to fractions. Each pair will work together to write their answer on their white board.
Pair with highest score will be the winner.

4) 0.8 9) 0.08
