The purpose of this document is to inform personnel when there is a new
software/firmware release for $3 or the EQP fire and gas system.

‘Added the abil to initiate locally a controller faceplate lamp test from the EQP diagnostic menu screen.
Increased the allowable size of user logic programs to 500 k bytes (more than double the existing
memory).
* Added a new redundancy fault "Dead LON" which causes a redundancy switch if the LON is disconnected
from the master EOP.
+ Added a new controller status bit Config Port Retay Control’ to be used to control an external switch
‘controling configuration port serial ines between a redundant pair of controllers.
EQP Controller Fi
Controller firmware upgrades can only be performed at the factory. The reason for this is that the EQP
system is a third party performance verified life safety system, which has strict rules and guidelines on
how a controller upgrade must be performed.
Please note that in general PLC’s are not a certified life safety system and are not required to adhere to
the same rules and guidelines.

$3 project programs from earlier versions opened in 4.0.0.0 will be converted to the new software and
will no longer be compatible with earlier versions of S3, Always make a backup of the project file
(either the project folder or the .s3n backup file) prior to opening the project in version 4.0.0.0. if you
