Vehicle Parking Study

This lab report summarizes a vehicle parking study conducted at a parking area in TTDI Jaya, Subang. 20 parking bays were observed over 1 hour from 2-3pm. The number of vehicles parked in each bay was recorded every 5 minutes. A total of 28 vehicles were parked during the study period, resulting in a parking load of 2.33 space-hours and an average parking duration of 42.86 minutes. The parking turnover was calculated to be 1.4 with a parking index of 0.25. In conclusion, the findings justify the number and demand of parking bays at the location.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Definition of Parking Study

Space-hour is a unit of parking that defines the use of a single parking space for a period
of 1 hour. Parking volume is the total number of vehicles that park in a
study area during a specific length of time, usually a day. The parking accumulation is
the number of parked vehicles in a study area at any specified time. These data can be
plotted as a curve of parking accumulation against time, which shows the variation of the
parking accumulation during the day. Parking load is the area under the accumulation
curve between two specific times. It is usually given as the number of space-hours used
during the specified period of time. Parking duration is the length of time a vehicle is
parked at a parking bay. Parking turnover is the rate of use of a parking space. It is
obtained by dividing the parking volume for a specified period by the number of parking
spaces.

33.1 Objective

To determine the parking accumulation and parking index at the selected.

To justify the efficiency and demand or parking bays at the area of the location.

5.0 DISCUSSION
In order to determine the number of parking spaces for vehicles parked in the parking space
in the area of Speed Mart lot at TTDI Shah Alam, Selangor, we were despatched in groups
by our lecturers from this lab to specific parking places. The total number of parking places
in the region is 20 squares and the number of vehicles parked in the area is 28 vehicles.
Do your findings justify the needs and the demand of parking bays at the location? Our
findings after completing this study demonstrated that vehicle movement is reduced since
the vehicles parked at TTDI Jaya did not change significantly over time. We also saw that
We also saw that throughout the time we were undergoing this experiment, majority of
customer or buyer start to shopping doing other stuff with any shop regarding that lot area
from 2.25 to 3.25. We also observed that there are few motorcycles illegally parked in that
area using the carpark places.

6
CONCLUSION
Vehicle parking studies are performed to determine parking accumulations, parking
accumulations, and parking index at the chosen location. We were able to collect the
findings of the hourly number of vehicles parked at TTDI Jaya, specifically in front of Speed
Mart. The results for one hour of viewing the parking bay are shown in the table above.
