Narrative Report on National Reading Camp


Grade Three Transitioning Class

The National Reading Camp held at Kinale Elementary School from


July 24 to August 23, 2023 marks an inspiring journey in nurturing the reading
skills of grade 3 pupils. With the session scheduled from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. every
Monday to Wednesday. The camp aimed to foster a love for reading and
enhance literacy levels among young learners.

Our school had its kicked off ceremony on July 24, 2023 with great
enthusiasm and commitment to nurturing young minds and foster love for
reading with comprehension. A team of dedicated educators and volunteers
worked hardly to create a conducive atmosphere for the learners/campers. This
program focus on the developing reading abilities, enable them to understand
and comprehend various types of stories and texts. The lessons were carefully
designed to be interactive, enjoyment through games, group or individual
reading and the guided reading experiences. The session was started at 8:00 in
the morning until 10:00. Campers enjoy much in their reading lesson with
notable achievements, increased vocabulary and language skills were also
enhanced.

The School Reading Camp was not only focus in reading but it also
emphasized the character development and the values of the campers and the
volunteers showing sense of unity and camaraderie, respect to one another and
become well rounded individual.

As the camp goes on, the learners/campers were filled of


enjoyment and excitement of the day to day activities in various forms, which
showcased their new discovered reading skills.

On August 23, 2023 was the closing program of the said camp.
Certificates of Participation and Recognition were been awarded to the learners,
not only the pupils’ academic growth been developed as well as their personal
development.

Kinale Elementary School Reading Camp demonstrated


achievements on the targeted intervention and creative teaching strategies,
eventually, the impact of the well-planned and well-designed program anchored
on young learners’ abilities and attitudes towards to the improvement of their
reading skills had its success. Both the teacher-volunteers and learners and
parents left the camp with whole-heartedly appreciation for the great
improvement in reading that they will benefit much for a brighter future.
