ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The learning assessment is based on continuous evaluation and a final exam. To pass the subject, the
students must get 5 points out of 10 by adding both parts:
                                                     3rd 9am

2. Final exam: 50%
Note: According to the current regulations the student must score a minimum of 50 % in the Final Exam in
order to apply the continuous evaluation system
Attendance to the practical and seminar sessions is compulsory. 1 unjustified* or 3 justified** absences from
practical or seminar sessions will result in the student having to sit an additional practical or seminar exam
alongside the final exam. The student must score 7 out of 10 in the seminar exam to prevent an automatic fail
of the subject. The extra practical or seminar exam score will contribute as normal to the continuous
assessment, following the rules as stated above.
* Notification of absence must be made by email and provide the proof in hand to the professor.
** Justified absences are those for illness (with a doctor’s note), a death in the family (with documentary
evidence) or attendance to a university sponsored event
In the event that students do not achieve the required pass mark for this subject in the first examination session
in June, students will NOT be evaluated via the continuous assessment system for the Extraordinary re-sit
in July. In this case, the final course mark will be based purely on the final exam.
Students who enroll for this subject for the second time will NOT be evaluated via the continuous assessment
system unless they request this of the Professor IN WRITING before the start of the course. In this case, the
final course mark will be based purely on the final exam.
All students are expected to adhere to the University rules governing attitude and behavior in class. The rules
are available upon request from the Departmental Secretary.
