QUESTION 1

a) When preparing a proposal, contractors need to be careful not to overprice or


underprice the proposed project. Elaborate five (5) considerations when determining
the price to win a contract.
(10 marks)

b) Before a project can proceed, a contract must be signed by both the customer and
the contractor. Explain the two (2) types of contracts.
(5 marks)

QUESTION 2

a) Statement of work (SOV\/) defines the major tasks that will need to be performed to
accomplish the work that needs to be done and produce all the project deliverables.
Describe four (4) major tasks that might be included in a community festival project.
(10 marks)

b) Work breakdown structure (WBS) establishes the framework for project execution
plans and the project deliverable. Elaborate four (4) guidelines in deciding the
details and levels to be included in the WBS.
(10 marks)

b) Compute by constructing a table with the earliest start, earliest finish, latest start,
latest finish and slack time for each activity.
(8.5 marks)

c) Identify the critical activities and critical path.

d) State the overall project completion time.
(1 mark)
e) Identify two (2) activities with free slack.
(2 marks)

f) If the project is to be crashed by 5 days, describe the ways to do the crashing.

QUESTION 4

a) Explain the purpose of change control system in project management.


(5 marks)

b) The time-cost trade-off is used to reduce the project duration incrementally with the
smallest associated increase in cost. Elaborate five (5) assumptions in time-cost
trade-off of project crashing.
