DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 8
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The learners demonstrate understanding of the
Newton’s Three Laws of Motion
B. Performance Standard
The learners shall be able
Develop a written plan and implement a “Newton’s Olympics”
C. Learning Competencies Write the LC code for each
Investigate the relationship between the amount of force applied and the mass of
the object to the amount of change in the object’s motion. S8FE-Ia-15
Infer that when a body exerts a force on another, an equal amount of force is
exerted back on it. S8FE-Ia16
D. Learning objectives
Identify the Newton’s Laws of Motion
Participate actively on the activity about force and motion; and
Show awareness on how the Newton’s Laws of Motion function in our daily life
through activity. (Thumbs up, and Thumbs down)
II. CONTENT

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENTS ACTIVITY
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
Teacher will say:
Hello class, before we are going to start our (PRAYING)
class lets us pray first. So, students kindly
stand up.
GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON class!
Before you take your seat kindly pick up a
piece of paper under your chair, and arrange Good morning/Afternoon Sir!
your chair properly; then you may take your
sit.
In my class I have four basic classroom rules:
1. Observe silence
2. Observe cleanliness
3. Seat properly, and
4. Listen to your teacher
Did you understand class? Thank you, sir!
This time I will introduce you this flower, this flower
is equivalent to 1 point, and you will know more
about this later on.
Yes sir!
ENGAGE
Teacher will say:
To introduce our new topic, I have here a
picture which is related to our new topic
Teacher will be going to ask students: Students answer may vary
1. Are familiar with this man? Yes sir
2. Who is this man? Sir Isaac Newton “The Father of Modern
Physics”
3. Can you give me some of his contributions? He established the “Three Law of Motion”
Very Good class
(Giving Flower to students who answer the questions
of the teacher correctly)
Our topic for today is the “Newton’s Three
Law of Motion”
Now let me introduce to you our learning
objectives:
1. Identify the Newton’s Laws of Motion
2. Participate actively on the activity
about force and motion; and
3. Show awareness on how the Newton’s
Laws of Motion function in our daily
life through activity. (Thumbs up, and
Thumbs down)
Before we are going to start our activity, I
have here the definitions of each law and the
timeline how Sir Isaac Newton formulated
these three laws of motion for us to be
guided.
EXPLORE
Teacher will say:
To better understand the topic, we will have a
group activity entitled “Pantomime”
Instruction:
I will divide you in to three groups and I need “Students will participate the activity”
1 representative for each group to pick a word
strip that you are going to act through non-
verbal.
You are given only 1 minute to guess.
Phrase 1: Riding a bus
Phrase 2: Pushing Cart
Phrase 3: Walking on the Street
Teacher will present a:
REWARD CHART
EXPLAIN
Teacher will say:
Based on the activity entitled “Pantomime” Students answer may vary:
Riding a bus Sir because even if the body
1. Which scenario shows the first law of motion?
remains still but we can still consider it in motion
Why do you say so? because of the moving bus.
2. Which scenario shows the second law of It’s Pushing a cart because if you are going to
motion? Why do you think so? apply force on it, it will accelerate.
3. Which scenario shows the third law of Walking on the street Sir, because there is an
motion? Why do you think so? interaction happens between the feet and the
ground.
ELABORATE
Teacher will say:
This time we will going to have an activity;
entitled “Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down”
Do you know this activity? Yes sir!
I will show you a picture which is related to
the “Newton’s three law of Motion”
All you need to do is thumbs up if it is the
first, second, third, Law of motion, and
thumbs down if not.
Did you understand?
Yes Sir!
Any question? Clarification?
No sir.
Ok now let’s Start!
