MISSION BRIEFING (STRIKE FORCE MISSION)

“That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons, even death may die.”
These words were spoken in hushed whispers throughout Yhaster ever since the nightmares began. When the Tyranids broke the seal by destroying the Aethershoal obelisks, the ground under Misery
shook, as if an impenetrable gaol had been broken open. The solitary Nightmare creatures began congregating en masse, no longer content to simply terrorize outposts. Their combined might
overwhelmed many mining outposts as the creatures swarmed overland bases and emerged from deep caverns to demolish mining tunnels. Insidious patterns were emerging as Nightmare attacks
drew closer around the base of the Horn mountain where a Tau Ly’Sha Bedrock Drill had aided mining companies in burrowing deep into the planet’s core. They struck something that placed the drill in
a suspended stasis field. Now the Tyranids converge on the stasis drill, freed from its stasis after the destruction of the obelisks and continued drilling into the core. The Tyranids were ready to free
whatever lay beneath the drill’s path, and no mortal powers would be allowed to stop this from happening…

Terrain Set-Up
LMU Processing Facility: Use a ruins to represent this, it should be placed on a 12” x 12” area terrain. This is set-up right at the center of the battlefield.

LMU Theta Site: Set-up six area terrain of medium size (smaller than 12 x 12) on the battlefield. These area terrain can be ruins or ruined walls. Players are still free to place additional terrain on the
battlefield.

NOTES:
Attacker must be Tyranids or GSC. Defender can be any non Tyranid faction. The battle must take place on Misery. This mission must be played with Special Conditions.

MISSION RULES
Recon: The players have access to Recon Strategems on Page 16 of Plague Purge Mission Pack. Each player can use each Stratagem once.

Power Transformers: There are five Power Transformers on the battlefield, they are housed within Sector Mechanics structures. Use Industrial Terrain feature such as Alchomite Stack or the
Ferratonic Furnace and place at the spots marked 1 to 4. Power Transformers have 9 Wounds and cannot be targeted by melee, ranged or psychic attacks. . It can also be damaged by mortal wounds
from exploding vehicles, monsters or titanic units.

Power Transformers have 9 Wounds and cannot be targeted by melee, ranged or psychic attacks. . It can also be damaged by mortal wounds from exploding vehicles, monsters or titanic units.

Set Melta Charges (Action): One or more infantry units from attacker can start to perform this action at the end of their movement phase. The unit must be within 1” of the Power Transformers to do
this. This action is successfully completed at the start of your next Command Phase. Once the action is completed, it deals 3D3 Mortal Wounds to the Power Transformers.

Crushing Stomp (Action): One Monster unit from attacker can start to perform this action at the end of their movement phase. Each unit must be within 1” of a different Power Transformers to do
this. This action is successfully completed at the start of your next Command Phase. Once the action is completed, it deals 4D3 Mortal Wounds to the Power Transformers.

Gaolers of <Redacted>: Defender can set-up one infantry unit wholly within the LMU Processing Facility and one non Infantry unit within 3”of the LMU Processing Facility
Emergency Repair (Action): One or more infantry units from defender can start to perform this action at the end of their movement phase. The unit must be within 1” of the Power Transformers to
do this. This action is successfully completed at the start of your next Command Phase. Once the action is completed, it restores 1D6 Wounds to the Power Transformer.

Technical Expertise: The following units restore additional D3 wounds to the Power Transformer if these units complete the Emergency Repair (Action).
Ork: Big Meks & Meks. Space Marines/Grey Knights: Techmarines. Adeptus Mechanicus/Astra Militarum: Tech Priest Enginseer. Chaos Space Marines: Warpsmith, Necrons: Crypteks

Power Down: Once all four Power Transformers are destroyed. The stasis field containing the Greater Mimic drops and the Greater Mimic is released. Set-up the Greater Mimic on roof of the Ruins

The Greater Mimic: This is in addition to the special condition on The Aethershoal. This mimic takes the form of the unit that has the highest point cost for this battle (regardless of whether it belongs
to the attacker or defender). It cannot be a unit with the Vehicle keyword.

The Greater Mimic Behavior: The Greater Mimics have its own turn sequence and it takes place after both attacker and defender ends their turn. The Defender controls the Greater Mimic. If there
are no more attacker’s units within 12” of it. Then attacker gains control of the Greater Mimic until there are no more defender’s unit within 12” of it.

If there are no units from either the attacker or the defender’s unit within 12” of it. Then roll a D6. If the results are Odds, it moves towards the attacker. If results are Even it moves towards the
defender. It must attempt to advance or charge to get as close to their target.

MISSION OBJECTIVES
Victory points are awarded as follows:

CONTAIN THE GREATER MIMIC (End Game Objective)


At the end of the battle, the defender gains 30 Victory Points if the Greater Mimic is not released.

RELEASE THE GREATER MIMIC (End Game Objective)


At the end of the battle, the attacker gains additional 30 Victory Points if the Greater Mimic is released.

DESTROY THE ABOMINATION (End Game Objective)


At the end of the battle, the player who destroys the Greater Mimic gains 30 Victory if the Greater Mimic is released.
VICTOR BONUS
The Victor gains a free use of increase supply limit, in addition to that victor can also choose one of the following rewards.
• One extra Requisition Point. (You cannot have more than five at any one time.)
• Gain 2 Awakening Points (from Amidst the Ashes Mission Pack)
• Gain 2 Belief Points (from Wars of Faith Mission Pack)

If attacker is the victor, then attacker selects any of the units that has successfully destroyed the greater mimic, if that unit can gain a battle honor. That unit gains a Battle Trait of the player’s choice.
Make note of it on the unit’s crusade card and increase its crusade points accordingly.

If defender is the victor, then defender selects any of the units that has survived the battle, if that unit can gain a battle honor. That unit gains a Battle Trait of the player’s choice. Make note of it on the
unit’s crusade card and increase its crusade points accordingly.
