Renata Sofía Dávalos Rodríguez
Leonardo Zamora Acosta
Scene I
Everybody is walking on a hallway, heading out of the airplane.
R: Oh god… how did you all do in the flight? Honestly, I think it was really tiring!, there was
this man beside me snoring and he couldn´t let me sleep!
L: Yeah… you can´t really rest like you need on a plane, the noise, the people around you, the
turbulence, nothing can get you relaxed while you´re there.
D: Do you mind if I go to the restroom? I kept holding it all time…
F: I´ll go with you, nature´s calling!
Damián and Felipe go to the restroom, whilst Renata and Leo keep talking.
L: You know what? We should travel again like this sometime! Despite the fact that we were on
the run, we had the chance to know a foreign culture!
R: Absolutely! Although, it was a little bit weird to be observed around those places, it´s just that
on India, if you bring bold or flamboyant clothes, people tend to see you as an uncommon
person, and It feels really awkward to be seen like it.
L: I´m feeling sorry for that, but on the other hand, people were really kind to us, you know,
always offering help if needed or showing their customs like, their religion, or their language,
you know…
Damián and Felipe return from the restroom and now they all are going to go get their luggage.
D: Ok, so we are going to pick our suitcases on conveyer belt number two, there we go! Flight
253 from Heathrow to Mexico City! I just hope nothing bad happens, like when we arrived to
India with all the sweaters we had, and it was like 40 degrees Celsius!
F: I was sick at the time so I really needed a break from that! I thought for a second I was going
to die from hypothermia, but no! So here I am! By the way, what’s the temperature here?
R: Let me see… 23 degrees Celsius.
F: Oh my god! Finally fresh and cold air! Not like there, that can reach a ridiculous temperature
of 50 degrees Celsius!
D: Hey, let’s all calm down! Our suitcases will be here at any moment!
Scene II
Everybody gets their suitcases, except Renata.
R: Where is my suitcase?! It can’t disappear just like this!
L: Hey, hey, don’t worry, let’s stay positive, maybe we can ask on the Lost Objects Office!
Leo and Renata go to the Lost Objects Office, leaving Felipe and Damian.
F: Dude, what time is it? I feel knocked out.
D: It’s 4AM, and it’s normal to feel like that because there’s a time delay between here and India
of about 13 hours, which is an easy way to annoy someone.
10 seconds pass.
F: Do you know what was fun over there? The Holi Festival. You know, it’s an experience of a
lifetime and I’m never gonna forget it.
D: Yes… we got painted all of our body in there, but you know something? On Holi festival,
everybody celebrates the victory of good against evil, and also, eternal love, so that’s why
everybody gets so happy when they’re throwing against each other dust colors. Ahh, such a
beautiful meaning, filled with philosophy and beauty.
F: I didn’t know that, so…thank you for telling me! That was so interesting, I hope we learn
more about it in the future!
D: Umm, you know what?, I think they are taking too long to come back here, do we go with
them?
F: I don’t think so, they’re coming back.
Leo and Renata came back from the office.
R: Bad news, we’ll have to wait until the office locates my suitcase.
F: How long?
L: Around 3 hours.
D: Talking about which, do you all remember when we had to wait 3 and a half hours to enter
Taj Mahal Palace? It was crazy!
Everyone except D: Ahhhhh!
F: But at least we saw the whole palace! I’ll say it was worth waiting.
R: I also got lost there, remember? You had to phone me to tell me where were you!
L: Oh, that was the most funny thing about our trip to Taj Mahal, but I need to say that the
structure of the palace was one of the most interesting ones I’ve ever seen! Even to see all of that
we just needed 80$US dollars! Can you believe it?
D: Indeed! Those were the most useful 80$US dollars we’ve ever spent!
Scene III
3 hours have passed since Renata’s suitcase went missing, and now they passed the customs.
L: Do you have everything with yourselves? Passports, wallets, everything?
All except L: YES!
F: Renata, Do you still have the Barfi candy you bought from India?
Renata looks for them on her backpack.
R: Yes, I’ve got them here!
D: Can I have one? Please?
R: No! Not until we get out of the airport!
“Renata Davalos, would you please go to the Lost Objects Office?” over PA’s.
R: Finally! Let’s go for it!
They get back Renata’s suitcase, luckily without any scratch.
L: Hey, I remembered! You were going to buy a typical dress for you! It’s called… um, ahh.
F: The Sari dress!
L: Yes, that one! Did you buy it?
R: Nahh, it was a little bit expensive, I thought it was going to be more affordable, but no…, well
at least, I think I can make my own drees for good!
They walk to the airports’ entrances to order a taxi.
D: So what do you think? Taxi or Uber? I think it’s better to order a Taxi, because we don’t have
a credit card for Uber…
L: Yeah… its fine, just order it so we can get out of here, I’m starving!
F: What about if we go for a Starbucks or something? Just to wait the Taxi.
R: Sounds good to me!
They walk to a Starbucks, get a table, and drink coffee.
D: The lady that served us reminded me of a girl I met on India! Her name was Mathu!
L: I remember her too! She was the manager of the Hilton Hotel we stayed in! She gave us a
discount for the fee of the hotel for being travelers and students! Initially, the price was of 65$US
dollars or 5359.28 rupees for the currency on India, and she lowered it to 40$US dollars, which
is… 3298.02 rupees.
R: She was so nice to us! I hope we catch up some other time!
F: We need more kind people like her in the world, right now, right here, you are just asking the
time to a random girl and she yells “I have a boyfriend”, and I hate that!
D: You are all right! But you know what’s the thing I like? Travelling, because it’s just so
amazing to have an opportunity to know another place, and though it gets you another migraine,
I guess that is one of the ways to find yourself in this world! Cheers! For us, and for the more
stories we are going to tell during the time of our lives!
Cheers and the Taxi arrives.
Everybody puts their suitcases in the car and say last goodbyes to the airport.
Whoever wants: Ah, it feels good to be back home!
(Gets in the car)
Whoever wants: Alavida airport! Namaste home!
They go on the taxi fading away, as the sun rises up in the horizon.
