I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learner will be able to:
a. identify the market forms of meat
b. differentiate the market forms of meat
c. explain the importance of different market forms of meat

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic: Market forms of meat
B. Materials: Tarpapel, pictures, chalk, module
C. References: Technology and livelihood education cookery module
pgs. 343-344.

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary activities
 Prayer  One student will lead the prayer.
 Checking of attendance  The class monitor will list the students
 Review of the previews lesson who are absent.

B. Motivation

The teacher will paste two pictures of


different market forms.

What is the difference picture A and B? “Picture A is fresh meat while in picture B is
dried meat”.
Very good!
In the market we can buy fresh, frozen, and
processed meat.

C. Presentation/Development of the Lesson

“Today we are going to discuss market forms


of meat.”
Market Forms of Meat

The preparation of the desired dish. This


includes fresh, frozen, cured, and processed
meat.

1.Fresh meat-meat that is recently


slaughtered, has not been preserved, frozen
Characteristics of fresh meat
How can you identify if the meat is fresh or in a. The color of the flesh is red or pinkish
good quality? b. No bad odor
c. The flesh when pressed with a finger,
meat feels springy and resistant.
d. The fibers are firm.
2.Chilled meat- meat that is placed in chiller
or slightly cold

3.Frozen Meat-are meat cuts frozen to an


eternal temperature of 20˚C(-40˚C)

4.Cured meat
“Meat preserved by salting, smoking, or
aging”
5.Canned meat- meat preserved by chemical
process and requires to be reheated. “Canned or processed meat can buy mostly on
supermarkets”.
6.Dried Meats-dehydrated meats.

Why meats are being process or adding


chemicals? “Because meats are perishable. To prolong
the shelve life some manufactures produced
can goods to export to other country.”
D. Application

The teacher will paste pictures of different


market forms and the students will identify
were it belongs.

E. Generalization

1. What are the market form of meat?


“The market forms or meat are fresh, chilled,
frozen, canned and dried meat.”
2. What is the difference between fresh and
frozen meat?
“Fresh meat is recently slaughtered, has not
been preserved, while frozen meat is meat
that is preserved in low temperature to
prolong the shelve live.”
3. Why it is important to know the difference
market form of meat?
“It is important specially when we are buying
meat that we need to use in our recipe”.

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Using the Venn diagram compare the differences of market forms and on the middle
of the circle write their similarities.
