INTRO ( IVY )
There are numerous reasons why we might wish to limit the quantity of sunlight that enters a
structure. Excess solar gain in warm, sunny climates may result in high cooling energy consumption; in
cold and temperate climates, winter sun entering south-facing windows can contribute to passive
solar heating; and in nearly all climates, controlling and diffusing natural illumination will improve
daylighting.
Sun control and shading systems that are well-designed can significantly reduce peak heat gain and
cooling requirements while also improving the natural illumination quality of building interiors. Sun
control and shading devices can also improve user visual comfort by decreasing contrast ratios and
managing glare. This frequently results in greater pleasure and productivity. Shading devices allow
you to distinguish one building facade from another.

DESCRIPTION OF SUN SHADING ( LEI )

Many energy-efficient building design solutions include the use of sun control and shading
technologies. Buildings that use passive solar heating or daylighting, in particular, frequently rely on
well-designed sun control and shading technologies.
External window shading is a great approach to prevent unnecessary solar heat gain from entering a
conditioned space during the cooling season. Natural landscaping or architectural elements such as
awnings, overhangs, and trellises can give shade. Some shading systems, known as light shelves, can
also act as reflectors, bouncing natural light deep into building interiors.

SHADING SYSTEM ( ALESSANDRA )

We used a flat roof and one-meter roof eaves on either side of our two-story building to cover our
windows and prevent the entry of too much hot sun. On the second floor, Use Terrace on south and
North facing Sliding Door glass to control direct beam solar radiation and provides extra sun
shading and refreshing at the same time. To the greatest extent possible, We limit the amount of
east and west glass since it is harder to shade than south glass. We also Consider the use of
landscaping to shade east and west exposures.

SUN ORIENTATION ( DANE )

Sun angle in early morning and late afternoon is low which makes overhang roof design
ineffective which had overall weak category from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. That is why the
percentages of shading area in morning and late afternoon are less than its percentages at
afternoon. Having exposed to direct morning sunlight is beneficial for acquiring adequate
vitamin D while exposure to direct evening sunlight is one of the causes of skin cancer.
