A Semi Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 10

This lesson plan is for a mathematics lesson on central angles for 10th grade students. The objectives are for students to derive relations among chords, arcs, central angles, and inscribed angles, and prove theorems related to these concepts. The lesson will include an introduction, review, motivation, and presentation using the 4A method (attention, appreciation, acquisition, application). Students will identify arcs, minor arcs, and semi-circles in a circle diagram. They will then analyze, abstract, and apply their understanding through example problems identifying arc measures and finding arc lengths.

Analysis (Open Discussion)
 How did you find your answers?
 What is the difference between minor arcs, semi-circle and major arcs?
Abstraction
 An arc is a part of a circle.
 A central angle is an angle whose vertex is the center of the circle.
 Minor arcs consists of points that are in the interior of central angle and measure of
it is equal to the degree of central angle.
 Major arcs consists of points that are in the exterior of central angle and equal to
360 minus the degree measure of central angle.
 Semicircle consists of endpoints of diameter and all points of circle that lie on one
side of diameter and is equal to 180.
 Congruent circles are circles with the same radius.
 Congruent arcs are arcs with the same measure.
 Postulate 23: The arc addition postulate is the measure of arc formed by two
adjacent arcs is the sum of the measure of two arcs.
 Postulate 24: a diameter divides a circle into two semicircles.
 Postulate 96: Arc Length. The length of an arc of a circle is the product of the ratio,
measure of the arc divide 360, and the circumference of the circle.
