Introduction:
Good day! I’m Christine Sai and for today’s video we will be talking about how we
can cope with stress and anxiety through doing physical activities. Done video
First, we should talk about what is STRESS and ANXIETY. Done video
STRESS according to the mental health foundation.org Stress is the feeling of being
overwhelmed or unable to cope with mental or emotional pressure. It is our body’s
response to pressure. Narrate
Many different situations or life events can cause stress. It is often triggered when
we experience something new, unexpected or that threatens our sense of self, or
when we feel we have little control over a situation. Narrate
ANXIETY on the other hand is your body’s natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of
fear or apprehension about what’s to come according to the healthline website.
Situations where we experience anxiety is the first day of school, going to a job
interview, or giving a speech may cause most people to feel fearful and nervous.
Narrate
Next Part:
So, how do we cope with stress and anxiety by performing physical activities? Done
video
There many physical activities that can help us reduce the stress and anxiety we
feel. Done video
Based on ADAA (Anxiety and Depression Association of America) research regular
participation in aerobic exercise has been shown to decrease overall levels of
tension, elevate and stabilize mood. Even five minutes of aerobic exercise can
stimulate anti-anxiety effects and also decrease stress. Narrate
Examples of aerobic exercises are walking and jogging. Done video
Other physical activities that help you reduce stress and anxiety is doing yoga,
weightlifting or even gardening. Done video
However in doing these physical activities is to make sure you pick an activity that
you enjoy. One of the first things that can help reduce the stress or anxiety we feel is
to do something you love or enjoy. Narrate
Just like me who’s a student who has experienced stress and anxiety often doing
things I enjoy help me cope up with these.
It’s impossible to eliminate, but you can learn to manage stress, and most people
usually do. According to a recent ADAA online poll, some 14 percent of people make
use of regular exercise to cope with stress.
That is all for this video, always remember to take of yourself and that your mental
health matters. Thanks for watching!
