Battery Charger SOW
Battery Charger SOW
1- Introduction:
Suez Oil Company requires a dual DC battery charger with supply 380 V AC and output voltage 110 V DC to
feed 3.3 KV switchgear and their protection relays, As difficulties experienced to obtain spare parts or to repair
defective parts of old control as most of parts are obsolete or no longer supported, a decision had been taken to
replace the old dual DC battery charger with its batteries by new one (attached name plate).
2- General Instructions:
Units of measurement shall be according to SI (Standard International).
Location of battery enclosure shall provide enough space for maintenance and cooling purpose and
will be outside the building and supplied by the supplier.
All the terminals and cables shall be tagged and use insulated cables lugs.
Power supply shall be 380 AC – 50 H through Input and output circuit breakers.
The battery charger origin must be USA, Europe or Japan only.
The vendor’s offer shall include and not limited to the following information:
Written description of the proposed battery charger system.
Catalogue details and model number of system components.
Outline drawings, (Cabinet front layout and equipment arrangements).
Wiring schematic drawings.
Dimension and weight of the system equipment.
SUCO’s approval of vendor’s drawings and/or component specifications will not relieve vendor from
his responsibility for total system guarantee.
Where any provisions of this specification are in conflict with the specific requirements documents
attached so a query shall be referred to SUCO for clarification.

INPUT
Both chargers are set to the mains input as shown below. Adjustments may be made by tapping on the main
transformer T1.
INPUT VOLTAGE: - 380V + 10% VARIATION, 50 HZ, 3 PHASE, 4 WIRE.
CHARGERS
Each charger is a 110 VDC 10A consist of a double wound mains input transformer, a full wave silicon
bridge rectifier, AC and DC fuse protection. Both chargers are open and short circuit proof and have a battery
low volts protection circuit to prevent a flat battery receiving maximum charge initially which could result in
buckled plates.
FLOAT VOLTAGE: - Both chargers set to 130V DC
BOOST VOLTAGE: - Both chargers set to 147V DC
MAXIMUM OUTPUT CURRENT:- Both chargers set to 10A DC @ 92V DC.
Output voltage limits will be maintained for a ± 10% variation in mains voltage and the current is set to 100%
of rated output.
BATTERIES
Each battery set, consisting of 92 x 33Ah Nickel Cadmium cells, is situated on a double row, double tier stand
constructed from impregnated Iroko hardwood and coated with polyurethane varnish for protection against
electrolyte spillage. Each battery and stand is supplied with a fuse box which contains the battery fuses. Each
battery set is supplied complete with all necessary links and fittings, filler nozzles, instruction cards,
hydrometer, thermometer and miring equipment.
DISTRIBUTION
The DC distribution consists of five double pole fused output ways. Each way has 32A rated fuses and are to
be connected as below:-
Terminal Number OUTPUT DESIGNATION
