4Pre-Checks
The table below lists the pre-checks that should all result in Success to successfully migrate the VMs
from vSphere to Nutanix AHV.
Tests with an Ideal Result of N/A aren’t specifically pass/fail tests; however, they indicate that
additional work or configuration is required:

 vSphere Anti-Affinity Rules: these rules won’t be migrated over by Nutanix Move and need to be
recreated on Nutanix AHV
 Multiple vNICs: servers with multiple vNICs should be migrated with MAC address preservation
enabled, as this is the only way to guarantee that each NIC is assigned the correct IP address after the
migration

functionality of the servers:

Task Check Expected Result Success

1. VM Boot VM booted properly without error

2. Disks All disks appear in disk manager/windows explorer and are online

3. Network All network adapters are present and configured appropriately

4. IP VM can communicate on the network to the default gateway and

10 Post Migration Cleanup

10.1 UNINSTALL VMWARE TOOLS
The VMware tools can be uninstalled via Add/Remove programs, or can be uninstalled using the
command line\PowerShell (GUID is version dependent):
msiexec.exe /x {GUID} /passive /norestart

PowerShell Script Method:

$GUID = Get-WmiObject -Class win32_product | Where-Object {$_.name -eq "VMware
Tools"} | Select-Object -ExpandProperty IdentifyingNumber
Start-Process -FilePath "$env:systemroot\system32\msiexec.exe" -ArgumentList "/x
$GUID /passive /norestart" -Wait
PowerShell one-liner Method:
$GUID = Get-WmiObject -Class win32_product | Where-Object {$_.name -eq "VMware
Tools"} | Select-Object -ExpandProperty IdentifyingNumber; Start-Process -FilePath
"$env:systemroot\system32\msiexec.exe" -ArgumentList "/x $GUID /passive /norestart"
-Wait

10.2 INSTALL NUTANIX GUEST TOOLS

The Nutanix Guest tools can be installed by mass-mounting the NGT installer disk from the Prism
Central console and then running the following command:
d:\setup.exe /quiet /norestart ACCEPTEULA=YES IGNOREALLWARNINGS=yes

10.3 REBOOT
The server needs to be rebooted following the previous actions:
Shutdown /r /t 0
