Staircase Light With

This circuit uses two micro-switches located at the top and bottom of a staircase to automatically turn a light bulb on for 40 seconds when either switch is pressed. When a switch is pressed, it triggers a monostable circuit using a timer IC that activates a relay for 40 seconds, powering the bulb. After 40 seconds the relay deactivates and the bulb turns off, conserving energy. The circuit operates on a 9V battery and provides the same functionality as a hardwired light switch system but requires only one switch press instead of turning the light on and off manually.
