ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT ON THE 3RD QUARTER NATIONAL
SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL
It is very vital to orient learners, even teachers on the
importance of earthquake preparedness. Having the knowledge on what to do before, during and after an earthquake makes a difference in everyone’s lives. During an earthquake, school children are one of the most vulnerable. As INTRODUCTION such, it is very important for teachers and school personnel to properly guide and teach children on what to do in times of hazards such as earthquake. With this, San Francisco Elementary School enjoins the whole country in the 3 rd Quarter National Simultaneous Drill.
National simultaneous earthquake drills are done quarterly to
remind everyone on how to respond to the complications of an actual earthquake. Specifically, this course of action aims to:
a. To increase the knowledge of children and teachers about
TARGETS earthquakes b. To develop preparedness for appropriate responses during an earthquake c. To reduce the disastrous consequences of earthquakes d. To evaluate the readiness and awareness of learners and Deped Personnel for earthquakes e. To evaluate the coordination and communication mechanism during evacuation procedure and response

NARRATIVE With the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 132, s. 2022 entitled “Participation to the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2022”, SFESians participated in the 2022 3rd Quarter NSED on September 9, 2022, Friday at 9:00 AM instead of September 8 because of the special non-working holiday in the province of Pampanga and practiced “duck, cover and hold” procedure as a minimum requirement. SFESians also evacuated to their designated safeholding area. Pre and post orientations on the activity were also conducted.
