Abstract
Badlishah International Virtual Innovation Competition 2022
The vegetable shortening candles named REWAX is produced by using a
couple materials which are vegetable shortening, tempered glass jars,
candle wicks, scented essential oils and some alphabet and number beads.
All of this ingredient is either already sitting in your kitchen or can be
easily acquired at local malls with reasonably-priced cost. The REWAX is
an impressive alternative as it can burn as long or longer than some
standard wax candles. Usage of vegetable shortening instead of paraffin
wax is also more environmentally friendly as wax which is made from
crude oil is considered highly unsustainable due to it being a non-
renewable resource. On the other hand, vegetable shortening is made from
hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, such as corn or
soybean which are renewable materials. The REWAX candle has a wide
potential and ability to popularize as a great gift for couples, family and
friends. As the candle starts to melt, secret messages can be glimpse from
the alphabet beads. The scent coming out of the REWAX candle such as
lavender is also wonderful at soothing and helpful for reducing stress and
anxiety.

Product description
REWAX is produced by using a couple materials which are vegetable
shortening, tempered glass jars, candle wicks, scented essential oils and
some alphabet and number beads. REWAX is produced by first melting the
vegetable shortening and then adding some essential oil to make it a
scented candle. After that, the melted vegetable shortening is poured into
the tempered glass jars with the candle wick in it and left to cool. The
cooling process took several hours. This whole process is effortless to do
and needed very minimal effort to complete.

Novelty and
uniqueness REWAX has uniqueness mainly in terms of more sustainable and

environment friendly materials. Instead of using paraffin wax, it uses
vegetable shortening which is more sustainable as it is a renewable source.
Vegetable shortening also has a lower cost compare to paraffin wax and is
also easier to obtain as you can get it at any grocery stores.
Benefit to mankind
REWAX is significant for someone who’s struggling with emotion and
anxiety. This can be perceived as REWAX can be used as a gift someone
can give to their family or friends to tell them about things or problems that
is hard to say. REWAX also release a pleasant smell that is soothing and
helpful for reducing stress and anxiety.
Potential
commercialization As with the increasing of popularity of candles nowadays, REWAX is
essentially used as a decoration or send as gifts for individuals. Apart from
that, REWAX is a much environmentally friendly alternative to paraffin
wax candles and can be marketed as such. REWAX can also be placed at
hospitality industries such as spas and hotels to provide a pleasing and
charming environment to visitors and customers.
