ignation system for gas turbine engine

a) A gas turbine engine is an aircraft engine that drives a compressor turbine with hot, high-
pressure air from the exhaust and uses the energy of expanding gases to drive the
.compressor

b) Air enters the front of the engine at ambient pressure. The air is compressed and heated
by passing through successive rows of rotating blades in a series of airfoils (blades). This
heating, called "thermal choking," makes it more difficult for the gas molecules to escape
from between these closely-spaced rows, resulting in higher pressure as it passes into
.succeeding rows

the compressed and heated air is routed into a combustion chamber where fuel is added
and ignition occurs spontaneously when high pressure causes ignition temperature to be
.reached

.c) The combustion products are exhausted through a turbine

d) The turbine exhaust is recirculated and pressurized due to the high pressure of the gas
.that must be maintained in the engine to prevent compressor stall

e)  This hot, high-pressure air is provided to the main stages of the compressors. These
stages are arranged in rows or stages so they are partially sheathed with blades, then larger
and larger blades can be placed within the sheaths. The air is cooled by flowing through
.boundary layers of moving air at sheath surface (called "boundary layer cooling")

e) The cold air is then passed through the last stage of a compressor, which pumps the
.compressed, hot air back into the engine where it is mixed with fuel and ignited

.The gas turbine engine is widely used in civil and military aircraft

The efficiency of gas turbine engine is less than 50%. more over due to heat loss in   )3
cooling system, etc.  So they must have a separate generator to produce electricity for the
aircraft's electrical equipment's like cockpit instruments, electronic warfare suites and anti-
missile defensive aids Suite (ADAS), etc.  It also used for lighting, for starting the engine
.generated by a starter motor along with other auxiliary power units (APUs)

.e)  Aviation fuel is widely used in gas turbine engine

f) The concept of multistage compressor was introduced with the first jet engines in the
.1940s

g) Gas turbines naturally generate more thrust for a given Fan Diameter (see thrust-to-
weight ratio), and can operate at higher rotational speeds. Compared to rocket engines,
their mechanical simplicity results in a lower Specific Fuel Consumption, giving them far
greater range when carrying the same payload, but they can operate for shorter periods
before they require maintenance, because of their mechanical complexity and air intake
.design
