Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to offer my highest recommendation of Michael Mendoza who is among the top students
across academic, interpersonal, and thinking-reasoning domains. I have known Michael for one year
and find them to be very professional, engaged, and articulate in both written and verbal
communication. I observed excellence in collaborative skills and critical thinking during our small group
sessions. After completing my classes, this student continued in our BSN-Integrative Health (BSN-IH)
program taking the knowledge and skills gained in my courses to provide exemplary patient care in a
student nurse role.

Michael is a leader, inside and outside the classroom, and excels in interdisciplinary collaborations. Our
BSN-IH program prepares students with a professional toolkit, emphasizing both conventional and
integrative approaches to clinically managing health, wellness, illness, and chronic conditions across the
lifespan. In my courses, students earn the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Healthcare Quality
Improvement Certificate in Quality & Safety: A 13 course (35+ hours) certificate in improvement
capability, patient safety, leadership, person-and-family-centered care, triple aim for populations.
Students are prepared to participate in evidence-based practice and contribute to quality improvement
projects.

Michael 's record of active citizenship and leadership in clinical settings is matched in the community
where he serves as a personal health and wellness preceptor, a postpartum depression coalition intern,
and an El Rio Community Health Center intern. He has professional experience as a high needs recovery
coach, behavioral health technician, medical and vitamin clerk, and a licensed massage therapist.
Michael provides valuable insight from professional and student nurse perspectives regarding future
nursing practice.

Thank you for the opportunity to offer my highest recommendation for this candidate, which I reserve
for the top 5% of my students. Please contact me if I can provide additional information or insight.

Sincerely yours,

Lorre Laws, Ph.D., R.N.
