Explain the concepts you learned by answering the following questions.
1. What is qualitative research?
Qualitative research is a type of social science research that collects and works with non-numerical data
and that seeks to interpret meaning form these data that help understand social life through the study of
targeted populations or places.

2. If you want to conduct a research study about your favorite restaurant in town, what method of qualitative
research is appropriate for your study? Explain your choice.
If I were to conduct a research study about my favorite restaurant in town, the method of qualitative
research I will use is case study. Performing this method of qualitative research will allow me to know more
about the company and the business. Case study provide detailed (rich qualitative) information. Provides insight
for further research. Permitting investigation of otherwise impractical situations.

3. Differentiate subjectivity from objectivity?

Subjective information or writing is based on personal opinions, interpretations, points of view, emotions
and judgment. Objective information or analysis is fact based, measurable and observable.

4. Why should one understand the ethical consideration when conducting a research?
One should understand the ethical consideration when conducting a research because it promote the
aims of research, such as expanding knowledge. They support the values required for collaborative work, such as
mutual respect and fairness.

5. Is the researcher himself/herself the data gathering instrument? Why? Why not?
Yes the researcher himself/herself is the data gathering instrument because he/she’s the one whom will
observe, participate, interview, and gather essential data needed in the study. It would be impossible to conduct
a research study without the presence of a researcher.

6. Can all research method be used in one research study? (Interview, survey, questionnaire, observation, etc.)
Yes, all research method can be used in one study it produces a richer and more comprehensive
understanding of a research area.

7. Given a chance to research, would you choose qualitative research right away? Give reasons for your answer.
I wouldn’t choose qualitative right away, because I preferred quantitative research because it is more
scientific, objective, fast, focused and acceptable. When I will conduct a research it would be better for me if my
study is acceptable, and accurate in gathering data. And qualitative research is a time consuming.

Daniel has been setting aside 100 pesos from his daily allowance for his fare to
London, the venue of the 2020 International Visual Art Competition. One day,
as he was at the store, he saw his dream cell phone. Fearing somebody would
buy it ahead of him, Daniel went home, and broke his piggy bank, rushed back
to the store, and bought the cell phone.

QUESTIONS:
1) If you were to do a qualitative research on financial literary in relation to Daniel’s case, what type of qualitative
research, based on purpose, would fit this case? Explain your answer.

If I were to do a qualitative research on financial literary in relation to Daniel’s case, I will used
Phenomenology type of qualitative research because it help to adjust to new issues and ideas as they emerged,
and also help me to understand Daniel’s meaning. Lastly Phenomenology applies not only to the objects of sense
experience, but to all phenomena

2) Which angle of Daniel’s case will your research focus on? Give reasons for your answer.

I will focus on the “effect of the brand new gadgets to teenagers” because based from the statement
above, Daniel sacrificed his longing plan in just a snap because of new model of cellphone. Compare the efforts
put on the trip and gadgets, we can clearly see that a gadget can trip down one’s dream and needs.
