INTRODUCTION
In general, there are three categories in studying Entrepreneurship -- Entrepreneurs,
Enterprise, and Environment. From these three categories the smallest but very relevant
category is the entrepreneur, because he is the one responsible for the survival of the
enterprise. Next is the enterprise that surround the entrepreneur. And the largest category is
the environment which surround both the entrepreneur and the enterprise.

The key to the success of the enterprise and its survival in its environment is the entrepreneur.
So, who are these entrepreneurs? What makes them different from others? Does this
individuals possess traits and characteristics that set them apart from the others? What are
the job opportunities for this entrepreneurship? In this module discusses these topics.

TRAITS, AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A CAREER

Regardless of the definition of an entrepreneur used or given before, it is very clear that there
are key terms associated in defining who an entrepreneur really is. We said that an entrepreneur is
somebody who has ideas and makes these ideas to happen. That is why we called them innovators.
Also, an entrepreneur should have some business skills, meaning they should have the ability to
organize and run a business. They are also considered as a risks takers because there are chances
to lose something. Lastly, an entrepreneur desires to make profit, as we all know this is the main
objective of every entrepreneur who are engaged in any kind of a business ventures. Therefore, it
is very important that an entrepreneur should have the prominent characteristics in various fields
and an entrepreneurial traits for them to become successful in their career that they have chosen.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ENTREPRENEUR AND IMPORTANT


ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAITS
The following are the known characteristics of an entrepreneur and important entrepreneurial traits
according to ( Azarcon, et al. 2008)

A. Academe - (academicians (teachers), professional researchers, project coordinators,
extension service providers, university planners, administrators.
B. Business – those involved in marketing, management, finance, financial management,
research and development, entrepreneurs, advisers, planners, relations officers and
corporate “think tanks”
C. Social Science Fields – policy makers and business reporter or journalist,
D. Government – researchers, policy makers, budget and management assistants and officers
E. Non-government Organizations- fundraiser or micro-financers, project proponents,
feasibility study consultants, researchers, project administrator.
F. Freelance – independent researchers, professional consultants, and independent
businessmen.
