GLOBALIZATION IS ABOUT THE LIBERALIZATION AND GLOBAL INTEGRATION OF
MARKETS.
(YES)
I agree with this claim since one of the qualities of globalization is the creation of new social
networks and the multiplication of existing connections that cut across traditional, political,
economic, cultural, and geographical boundaries. This is palpable on how the prices on different
markets from various locations follow the same trend over time. In addition to that, liberalization
plays a crucial role in building a sustainable world as its primal role is to remove barriers
amongst the trading world which eventually leads to undeniable economic growth. However, as
the world improves, a number of cons also arise. One example is that liberalization benefits only
the countries with stronger economies but put weaker ones at a greater disadvantage as it
forces emerging countries to compete in the same market with the nations with stronger
economies which poses the potential to suffocate established local businesses or cause new
businesses to fail.
GLOBALIZATION IS INEVITABLE AND IRREVERSIBLE.
(YES)
I agree with this claim because the demands from globalized markets only continue to increase.
The world would eventually be linked together to make a single interconnected place. Humans
are dependent beings. As the saying goes, “No man is an island”. This also rings true for the
society and the world economy as a whole. The developing countries are especially the ones
who lean towards globalization to get in the trend of economic boost and aggrandizement.
NOBODY IS IN CHARGE OF GLOBALIZATION.
(YES)
I think that we ourselves are the ones responsible for the globalization. But that in itself means
that no one is actually in charge of it. The trend on whether we get interconnected highly
depends on the tendencies of the majority to be part of the circulation in terms of economic,
cultural, political, and geographical needs for advancement. Globalization is a responsibility-
based process. Nobody, whether it may be an individual, a group, an organization, nor a country
is capable of spear-heading such a process alone.
GLOBALIZATION BENEFITS EVERYONE.
(YES)
Everyone truly benefits on globalization. However, the benefits are not awarded equally. Most of
the time the strongest countries or the most industrialized ones are the most benefitted while
smaller and weaker countries get the small end of the straw. This allows for disparities and
might even lead to protectionism. This is happening because there is no international economic
order that prohibits the right of the strongest and sets binding rules and standards.
GLOBALIZATION FURTHERS THE SPREAD OF DEMOCRACY IN THE WORLD.
(YES)
The 21st century allows people to gain access to more information that arises not only from their
own government but from across the globe. This suggests that democracies are now able to
freely express their values and ideals to closed-off nations as their control over information
depletes. Another point that can be taken here is that as more humanitarian movements take
action on autocratic countries, interventions against human rights violations and abuse of power
promotes the freedom of speech on the citizens. In return, the values of democracy are instilled
over borders. This is apparent on countries such as Iraq and other nations in Sub-Saharan
Africa.
