What Have You Got On…Your Mind?
Be honest in owning what is yours. Pull bad thoughts out like weeds, and discard them
with respect. Give appreciation for what you have learned and are aware of as these
many reflections are there for you to see.
Grandmother Pa’Ris Ha
Did you know that you have 80,000 thoughts per day? That
calculates to about two to four thoughts every second. Did you
know that 79,000 of the 80,000 are the same thoughts you had
yesterday? Your current reality is simply a reflection of yesterday’s
thoughts. If you like what you see, by all means, keep doing it. Did
you know that thoughts are energetic waves of information that are
manageable with the proper tools? These precious tools are closer
to you than your hands and feet. They are focus, emotion, and
imagination or visualization. The definitions for all are as
follows.
Focus – Selectively concentrating on one aspect of the environment while ignoring other things.
Imagination/Visualization –The ability to form new mental images and sensations that are
not perceived through sight, hearing, or other senses. The practice of seeking to affect the outer
world by changing one’s thoughts and expectations.
Emotion – The generic term for subjective, conscious experience, that is characterized primarily
by biological reactions, and mental states. Emotion is often the driving force behind motivation,
positive or negative.
Managing 80,000 thoughts each day would be implausible, so allow your feelings to do the work for you.
Most of your thoughts form without an emotional charge, and the ones that do request your attention. An
emotional charge is a feeling that you have about the thought. Here is an example: if you believe that your
thighs are too fat, each time you glance in the mirror a thought matching that belief will form. Shortly
afterwards you will notice an unloving feeling. You may feel depressed, angry, or insecure. When you
linger with the feeling, you will develop a false temperament about your body. As those unloving thoughts
and feelings fire and wire together, you will attract more experiences to support this thought. You will
exercise less, eat the wrong foods and feel guilty about doing so. This is why eating disorders are so
difficult to cure. The patient has a colony of emotionally charged thoughts supporting the belief that their
bodies are physically unattractive.
“Our Thoughts are an electrical charge (in the brain) into the quantum field of atoms.
Our emotions are the magnetic charge pulling the experience in…” Dr. Joe Dispenza
This is where focus comes in. Direct your focus to your emotional state of being. When an unloving
feeling arises, stop and ask yourself, “Why am I feeling this way? What was I just thinking about?” This is
important because every emotionally charged thought chemically conditions your body to memorize the
experience. The charged thought forms a colony of likeminded thoughts that are repetitive in nature. As
the thoughts wire and fire together in your frontal lobe, the body will release hormones to match. This
combination creates a state of being. Depending on your mood or temperament, the tools are frequently
used in error. You use focus as a means for worry and imagination for revenge. You choose from one
moment to the next what to focus your attention on, whether you consciously realize it or not. You are the
master of your fate and the captain of your soul.
Loving thoughts produce happy hormones. The happy hormones are serotonin, dopamine, endorphin,
and oxytocin. Serotonin is a contributor to wellbeing and happiness and wakes you up in the morning.
Dopamine is the chemical that mediates pleasure in the brain because as you know, too much of anything
has consequences. Endorphin means “the morphine within.” It is a pain reducer. Oxytocin is the sexy love
hormone. It increases empathy and communication.
Unloving and stressful thoughts create high levels of cortisol,
norepinephrine, and adrenaline. Cortisol, the primary stress
hormone, affects the metabolic system and increases sugars in
the blood supply. Norepinephrine plays a role in ADHD as well
as depression and hypertension. Adrenaline increases your heart
rate and elevates your blood pressure. They all compromise your
immune system and remain active in the brain long after the
perceived threat has been resolved, injuring and killing brain
cells. Unloving thoughts open the door to disease.
Imagination or visualization is a tool to assist you in changing the nature of your thoughts. It
strengthens your third eye chakra, ushering in clarity and creativity. This ancient science has been
practiced since the beginning of human existence. Cave dwellers etched visions of their catch prior to the
hunt. Athletes and actors use visualization all the time. Athletes see their bodies crashing through the
banner at the finish line before the race begins. Actors assume the essence of the role before filming
begins. When you can visually see yourself experiencing the desired outcome, it is the neuropath way of
what has to come.
Finally yet importantly is emotion. Feelings are a by-product of emotion and are the language of the
Soul. Emotions are cellular reflections of your experiences. There are two states of being, love and fear.
Your feelings will remind you from one moment to the next of what state of being you are living in. If you
feel bad, it is fear based. If you feel good, it is love based. If you live in fear, you cancel out all your good
intentions. Living in one realm and thinking in another is called praying to two masters. Here is an
example of that: you worry about your finances and live in fear of losing the little that you have but you
recite daily affirmations in praise of financial freedom. Worry is your master of fear and the positive
affirmation is your master of love. A good practice is to become conscious of your emotional state of being.
The benefit of witnessing the nature of your thoughts is that you struggle less and live more.
Now I will ask again…”What have you got on…your mind?”
