It also discusses Ocampo's view that knowing where we came from and our relationship over time, referred to as "saysay", is important for understanding how we have progressed to the present. The document then asks the student to write a 200-word position paper on whether history should be studied or not, to which the student responds that studying history is required and can provide clues to help understand the present and future by connecting events

To Study or not to Study History.

For me as a student. It is required to know our History. What happend in the past may lead something
to a brighter future. I as a student, still have questions of what happend to our past. How we became
a democratic country. How our National Heroes fought for our freedom. To make sure that we are still
fighting for a cause and not fighting for a dead end. We may not be able to find answer. Atleast they
can give us a hint to know the things that happend in the past. History is like a puzzle game. At first
you dont know the answer to the puzzle but if you connect the dots. They might go somewhere. To
have our knowledge to know the past maybe a good opportunity to realise something might be right
and something may not. What is the best the thing I have done for my country? I actually don’t know.
Because at my age. it is impossible to do something big. Then I realized it isn’t important on how big it
is. I think the best thing I’ve done for my country is to be proud that I am a Filipino. Well it is good to
say that we need to study our History. Our pride and glory.
