LESSON-3 COMPUTER MEMORY AND STORAGE DEVICES

Answer the following questions

1. What is the primary memory?


Primary memory or internal memory is used to store the data and
programs running in the computer.

2. Write the difference between RAM and ROM?


 Random Access Memory (RAM)
It holds the data temporarily. The information can be
read and written on it.
 Read Only Memory (ROM)
It is used to store the data and information permanently.
We can read the information from ROM.

3. What is a hard disk?


Hard disk is an external external storage device. All the programs, like
Windows, Logo, Paint, etc. required for working of a computer are
stored on its hard disk. It is fixed inside the system cabinet.

4. What is the use of pen drive?


Pen drive is a small portable device. It is used to store and transfer the
data and information from one computer to another. It store huge
amount of data CDs and DVDs.

5. What is DVD?
It is used to store large amount of data than CD. It can store data up to
4.7 GB. DVD is used to store full movies.
