Why?
“Virtually every structure is supported by soil or rock. Those that aren’t either
fly, float, or fall over.”
There are numerous earth-structures [structures made of soil] that are useful to
humankind. The safe and economical design of these structures requires
engineering.
There are almost no civil works that can be constructed without using,
excavating, moving, supporting or otherwise controlling soil and/or
groundwater.
Additional Remarks Students must get at least 40 over 100 on the final exam to pass
the course.
