      CORD
Almost any ty pe of cord can be used for Macrame' as long
as it is not too stretchy or stiff. J ute, Cotton Seine and
Sisal are most often used. Nonstretchy needlepoint or rug
yarn can also be used .
                                                                                COTTON SEINE
      NOTE: Very Important!
The cord sizes ore lis.t ed at the beginning of each project.
If you must substitute with a thicker cord, then you should
also use a longer cord proportionally . Another factor that
can alter the length of your project is the tightness of the
knots. For most oil applications, you should tie the knots
so that they are snug .
      WORKI NG FRAME S
Smaller hangers can be knotted on a knotting board as shown
in the photo on the top, left. This can be a bread board, 4 ply
drawing board, piece of Upsom board or Celotex . Marking
the board into squares wi ll keep the knotting straight. An
inexpensi ve artists easel with 2 11 screws positioned every au 3 ply

larger projects, a simple pulley system consisting of two
ceiling hooks and two ropes wi ll allow the plant hanger to
be raised or lowered as you work on it. See photos top, right.
